Back Story: As the quietest and youngest of three, Charlotte wasn’t ever the pride and joy of the Fudge household. Shy and bookish, she didn’t attract too much attention. Her older sister Violet was the perfect Fudge - Slytherin, proud, smart, beautiful. Even though they’re only three years apart, the sisters barely have anything in common, and Charlotte is more than a little intimidated by her; in their overlapping years at Hogwarts, Violet hardly acknowledged the younger girl’s existence, too wrapped up in her own life as she was. This left her to Rufus. Rufus, the middle child, was sorted into Gryffindor; this and his penchant for not taking anything seriously except for Quidditch put him in the middle of the pack in his parents’ eyes, too. Charlotte grew up in the shadows of these bigger personalities, left to books and lots of time alone at the Fudge home. She always felt out of place at home, overlooked, and being sorted into Gryffindor didn’t help. Afraid as she was to become a bigger disappointment to her parents, Charlotte poured herself into her studies and has risen to the top of her class, nestled amongst many Ravenclaws. However, even this hasn’t been enough to make them proud, and to add salt to the wound, she feels distant from many of her fellow Gryffindors, who tend to be too brash for her liking.

Rufus has been her safety and support, the only one in the family who’s ever really taken an interest in her. So although he is far from perfect, Charlotte looks up to him the most, and is most afraid to disappoint him. During their overlapping years at Hogwarts, when he asked her to do his homework, she did uncomplainingly; when he forbid her from seeing any boy, she buried her feelings; and she never once missed a Quidditch match. Although she adores him, a small part of Charlotte has been looking forward to this year as Rufus has graduated. He’s a grand older brother, no doubt about that - he’s over-protected her from just about everything that could have ever posed a threat, but she’d like to have a crush and not worry about the boy’s safety! Besides, she’s looking forward to more free time, as she’ll only have her assignments to worry about.

This should, in short, be a year of change for the girl.

Although overlooked by her family, Charlotte is extremely loyal to them and proud to belong to them. She is a people pleaser, and will never stop seeking her family’s approval. Her low self-esteem, caused by parental indifference, isn’t helped by the fact that her brother sometimes only seems to care about her because she can out-perform most of those in his class academically, and she hasn’t made too many friends at Hogwarts. She’s very intelligent and kind, and can be seen as passive, while really she’s just patient and would rather not argue most of the time, seeing herself as above that. Although it’s usually easy to get her to agree, she can lose her cool and get stubborn or sharp sometimes. She'd never admit to it, but inwardly she's very competitive, especially in terms of academic success. (And when Gryffindor beats Slytherin in Quidditch...well, she takes a lot of joy - and pride - in that.) Although she's self-conscious and has low self-esteem, she has a quiet sort of dignity in her family line and her own successes. Generally Charlotte is pretty happy, despite any difficulties, and tries to make the best of situations.
