It was quite astonishing how quickly Benji had finished his butterbeer, and Pandora grinned at him sheepishly. She'd been doing so much talking, she'd hardly had a moment to drink. So she gave him a nod as he stood, doing her best to drink the rest of her drink as she watched him walk away. Was she supposed to follow him? He hadn't told her that he would be coming back, but it didn't make sense for him to leave while she was still in the middle of her butterbeer. Turning in her chair, she gave a grin as she a brown haired girl approached Benji. Pandora didn't know the girl well, but she did know that it was Arnie's girlfriend. Not wanting to interuppt, she settled back in her chair, watching the exchange between the two with wide eyes as they made their way to the bar. Benji kept glancing back at her, and Pandora wasn't entirely sure what he was wanting her to do. Was she supposed to come save him from the conversation? She wasn't that good on social cues, and he hadn't explained to her why he had gotten up in the first place. She was in the middle of worrying about the whole situation when she realized that the brunette was also looking at her, so she gave a small smile and waved, before turning her focus back to her butterbeer. Was she supposed to go say hi? After all, she was friend's with Arnie. It would be the nice thing to do, to introduce herself. But the girl was older than she was, and while she seemed friendly, she was a bit intimidating. So she stayed in her seat, finishing off her butterbeer. As she sat the glass down on the table, she caught a somewhat frantic look from Benji, and she stared at him blankly. What exactly was he trying to get her to do? Thankfully she didn't have long to consider the options in front of her before he was back, a box in his hand. His words were rushed, and while she wasn't the best at picking up on things, it was obvious he was not ok. She gave a nod, before she stood up and looped her arm through his, gently leading him out the the pub. "Yes, candy sounds fantastic. Besides, it's far too crowded in here, don't you think? Hard to talk, never really liked having to scream for conversation," Pandora replied as they exited into the crisp air, turning to head toward Honeydukes.

Fresh air filled his lungs, and with every step that Pan lead him away he felt more at ease. She was ever so gently but persistent and before long they were squeezing into the shop. Benji didn’t have much time to think on what had transpired in the pub; he did have time to worry about Dorcas telling Arnie and Arnie trying to talk to him. He wasn’t ready to talk. He also wasn't ready to see... Willa. Not again, not after last time. Mostly however he tried focusing on Pandora. A soft smile touched his lips as he looked down at her shiny blonde hair. Blonde hair was kinda nice. Pan was really nice; though he had the feeling she didn’t have a clue what it was like for him in the Three Broomsticks. If she did she wasn’t letting on and he was grateful for not having to explain. Either way she had lead him out of a highly emotional situation with such ease. She was the best of good friends and he was momentarily sad to not having been closer to her sooner. “Here.” Benji said reaching over his dates shoulder to hand her a plastic treat bag he plucked off of a roll with his free hand. “Fill it up, my treat.” He instructed, glancing around the shop before leaning closer. “Whatever you want, we can hit up Zonko's for a bit, then we can take all the goods to the Hog’s Head and try to wait him out. If nothing else we have beer and candy and games, should be fun anyway. Plan?” He said more quietly, speaking very near to her ear. To a passerby it may have seemed he was whispering sweet nothings, though there was only two o ne passerby he was worried about. Where was Xenophilius Lovegood?

It was quiet as they walked to the shop, and Pandora hummed softly to herself as she lead Benji through the crowds. If he wanted to talk about things, she was sure that he would speak up. Although now wasn't exactly the time or place - that much she was aware of. Once they were away from their fellow students she'd take the time to make sure that everything was ok. She'd learned over the years to let people take their time to open up, although the concept was strange to her. Sharing her souls and stories with others, that was simply how she did things. Opening the door, she led him into the busy shop, the smell of sweets hitting them quickly. It always smelled so lovely in here, and Pandora gave a smile as she looked around at the different options. She could eat everything in this shop with ease, although that wasn't usually socially acceptable. Looking as Benji reached over her shoulder, she gave him a grin and accepted the bag. Nodding at his words to her. "That's really sweet of you Benji. Thank you! But it's going to be my treat at Zonko's, ok? Do you think you could teach me to play one of your favorite games?" She asked. She pulled him along with her as she wandered through the store, stopping occasionally to put candy in the bag. Even if they didn't find Xenophilius today, it was quite a nice time. She'd known Benji for years now and they had never hung out in this way before, a fact that made her heart a tad sad. He was such a good person and deserved so much happiness. Stopping to pick up a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans she gave him a grin, "Oh, these are always so tempting. But you never know what flavor you are going to get, which I suppose is the point. I wonder how they get all the different flavors? I mean I know it's magic obviously...I guess the real question is why do they pick those flavors?" She gave a shrug before setting the box back down, and tying up their bag of sweets. "Anyway, I think this should get us through the day!"

Benji couldn’t help thinking that in another time, in another world, Pandora would have been someone he could have liked in that certain way that really matter. He felt a twinge of unexplainable loss, watching her as she spoke with such enthusiasm. But they lived in this world, where Benji was quite done with those sorts of feelings; he felt… broken in that department. And Pan was head over heels for Xenophilius, which he was glad for because otherwise they may never be having this time together. He smiled at her, the strange feeling of having never had something he didn’t really want and feeling sad about it evaporating in the wake of her friendly face. “Okay, but not a word to my father.” He said in a faux serious voice. “If he knew I let a lady pay for anything on a date…” he let the statement hang perilously between them, raising his brows for effect. But he doubted she even noticed, she was flitting them through the store picking out candies and asking him to play his favorite game. Then she was rambling on about jelly beans and Benji could only watch her with an amused grin. She set the box of Bert’s down and tied up her bag. Benji released her hand to pluck the treats gently from her other. “I think you might enjoy poker.” He said to her earlier question. He doubted she would mind the jumping around in conversation. “I guess you’ll have to buy us some cards and Zonko’s. Ah this isn’t looking good for me. Dear old dad would be so disappointed.” Benji teased, shouldering his way to the counter to slap some coins on it before pushing his way back to Pandora, catching up her hand and tugging her along until they were out of the store. “Lead on.”

Pandora giggled at Benji's words, able to quickly pick up on the joke behind his words. She wasn't always able to pick up on things, but it was easier when it was from her friends. If there was any seriousness behind his words, she couldn't tell. Her mind was engrossed in candy and the thoughts of how they would spend the rest of the day, as well as the events that had occurred at the Three Broomsticks. Benji plucked the bag out of her hand, mentioning the game of poker. She had heard of it, and watched a few rounds in the tower on some occasions. But if Benji thought it was something she would enjoy, she would give it a try. She gave him another grin at his tease, shaking her head at them. "Oh never fear, I'll keep it a secret." Gladly taking his hand again, she followed Benji out of the shop. Once on the street it was only a short trip to Zonkos. The shop was crowded as it normally was, and Pandora had to squeeze through the crowd, clasping Benji's hand tightly. It was easy enough to find a regular deck of cards, but she also grabbed a game of Exploding Snap. It was one game she had experience playing, and it would be fun to pass the time. She squeezed to the front, still holding onto Benji as she paid for the cards. Once they were back outside, she gave a sigh of relief. "I love Zonkos but it's always so busy. Almost hard to breathe in there sometimes," she remarked, flashing him a smile. The Hogs Head wasn't a place she normally hung out, but she had to admit that it was a decent idea on Benji's part. A different sort of group hung out at the Hogs Head, and usually everyone there kept to themselves. So trying to out wouldn't be a bad idea. She wanted to keep the conversation flowing as they walked, but she didn't want to pry too much, even if the earlier interactions were playing on her mind. "Hey Benji...if you ever need me, just come find me ok? Promise me that?" She stopped in front of the Hogs Head, giving his hand a squeeze as she turned to look at him. "Thank you for today, for helping me. You're a good person, a good friend."

Pan was such a great girl, and the way she smiled at him as he teased her pinched a part of his heart. He vowed he would never let anyone turn her smiles upside down. Though he knew there was only one person capable of that. Benji also vowed that when all was said and done he would be having a lengthy conversation with X. The trip to Zonko’s was mostly quiet. Benji followed Pandora through the shop, shaking hands with some acquaintances with the hand not held in his friends along the way, and make no comment as she pushed to the front and paid for their things. Benji took the bag from her as they made their way out and onto the street. Clumsily flicking the bag open with his one free hand Benji was surprised to see a deck of Exploding Snap, not remembering seeing her pick it up. Must have been when Dirk was distracting him, jerk. Pandora’s soft voice brought his head up and he almost dropped the box of butterbeer and bag of candy. Perhaps she was more observant than he gave her credit for; maybe she hadn’t missed the tension at the Three Broomsticks. “I promise.” He said easily, though he wasn’t sure if he was lying or not. He just didn't want to broach that subject. She squeezed his hand, stopping in front of the Hog’s Head and Benji blushed a little at her words. “No need to thank me, you deserve it. Why don’t you mention that last bit to Arnie next time you see him.” He joked grinning down at her, trying to brush of the heaviness in his gut. "Or maybe don't."He let go of her hand only long enough to open the door for her, and then only for good when she was seated at the cleanest table he could find. Benji stored the butterbeer beneath their table, charming it so the barkeep couldn’t see it. But he was hardly paying attention to the Hogwarts students. As soon as he had seen Benji pulling out the cards he disappeared into the back. The boy served Pan a butterbeer and pulled the bag of candy onto the table. They would wait here now to see if Xenophilius Lovegood showed his face so they could get him to notice Pandora. Benji knew all the other boy needed to do was get out of his own head long enough to look at her; hence the elaborate scheme. Xeno needed a shock to the system to get him to see Pan, and Benj was just the guy for the job. “So the most important thing about poker,” he said, fanning the cards out this way and that in his hands. Showing off a bit really. ”Is the face. You must remain stoic.” Benji said with a grin, beginning to deal out the cards. “Now rule number one…”FINI
P.S. Benji and Pan spent the rest of the day at the Hog’s head but Xenophilius never showed. Pan however waxed the floor with Benji and went back to her dorm with all the candy she had won. Benj didn’t think about what happened at the Three Broomsticks all day.
