11 March 1978
Daisy was not having a good day. She had just received back her latest essay in History of Magic, and she hadn't gotten very good marks. She had a hard time paying attention in the class, the professor was just so boring. And it didn't help that she had very little time to work on her school work. Prefect duties were overwhelming, even though Remus and Lily were here to help her out if she ever needed them. But with it getting close to the end of the school year, Daisy wanted to do nothing more but spend all the time she could with Peter. He would be graduating, and the very thought of being at school without him made her want to cry.
Not that she already wasn't. In fact, it was all she could do. She had curled up in the common room after her rounds, essay in hand. And simply let herself bawl. Her mother was going to be so disappointed in her for getting such a low mark on a homework assignment, she couldn't stand it. While her grades never really upset her mother, she'd never received such a low mark before. Everyone was going to be so disappointed in her. She was worried that Peter would think she was stupid and leave her, which was something she often already worried about.
After all, he was graduating. And he wasn't going to be around after the summer. He would probably find a new, pretty girl when he had his fancy job. And then he would leave her. Daisy practically burst into tears, covering her face with her hands and dropping the parchment with her essay on the ground. They had been together for so long, and the mere thought of him being with anyone else made it difficult to breathe. Taking a deep breathe, she picked up the essay and tossed it on the table in front of her, frantically looking around for a familiar face. She needed someone to talk to to get her mind out of such a negative place.

Today had been a particularly dull day. Ever since James had called a truce with Snape, Peter had been suffering from lack of proper entertainment. And then he had gotten with Lily and things had just become more mundane from there. Honestly the seventh year never saw it coming. He thought, truthfully, Evans would never give in. She always seemed so set against anything having to do with one of his best mates. But she had surprised him, and annoyed him. Surprised him because they were now dating, annoyed him because now they couldn’t touch Snape. Of course Peter couldn’t really blame her for that. Sirius had tried to get him killed years ago and things had went downhill from there. But he hadn’t even been hurt! So what was the big deal? He would never express this to his friends. They had all seemed especially sore on the subject since Sirius had lured Snape to the whomping willow during the full moon. Peter was forbidden to cross the Slytherin ever again, unless he attacked first, which he didn’t much anymore. Like he would ever try going against Snape on his own anyway. So now James was with Lily, they couldn’t prank Snape, Sirius was probably off with Guin, and Remus in the library. He hoped with Charlotte because he really needed Daisy right now. She always seemed to brighten his day. Peter climbed the moving stairs from the ground floor with a smile, taking a few shortcuts, and before he could say Quidditch he was giving the Fat Lady the password, Daisy on his mind. They had been together so long, and she still made his stomach flip just thinking of her. Who would have thought he would be the one in a committed relationship for nearly three years? Had it been that long already? Peter smiled reminiscently, it seemed like only yesterday. But his smiled faltered and his thoughts stopped cold as he passed through the portrait hole and immediately his eyes fell on his girlfriend. He was at her side so quick he barely remembered crossing the common room. He pulled her up, wrapping his thin arms around her. “Daisy,” he said, smoothing her hair from her damp face, “what’s happened? What’s wrong? Is it mother?” he asked rapidly. Worry settling in. He would be just as upset if something had happened to Daisy’s mum. He prayed to whoever listened that wasn’t it. And here he was annoyed over Snape and Lily while his love was falling apart.

She wasn't finding anyone she knew in the common room, and it was making her even more distraught. She wished that Peter was there, and then part of her wished he wasn't. He would be there to hold her and make it better, but there was also the chance he was going to look at her essay and laugh at her, tell her she was a foolish girl. She hated that she was having these doubts about him, especially since they'd been together for so long. None of his his friends had been in a relationship as long as they had. But the fact was that Peter was going to be so far away from her this next year, and she couldn't handle that. Since they had started dating, she'd spent almost everyday with him during school. And in the summer she was always invited to the Potter's, and her mother was constantly inviting him over. Even if she did make him sleep in the spare bedroom. Looking back down at her essay, she felt the tears leaking from her face again, and covered her face with her hands. This was the absolute worst day she had experienced in a while. She was tempted to try and pull it together and go up to the boys dorm to see if any of them knew where Peter was at. They had a way of always knowing where to find each other, something she hadn't quite figured out yet. It was almost as if they had a map of the school that told them where to find someone whenever they needed to. But suddenly someone was pulling her up from her fetal position and wrapping their arms around her, and Peter's voice rang through her head. He was wiping her hair out of her face, and the look of concerned in his eyes made Daisy feel incredibly loved. She gave a small shake of her head, letting out a small hiccup. This always happened when she cried, and she hated it. She took a deep breath, hoping that it stopped any further hiccups from escaping. "No, no. She's fine but she's going to hate me!" she exclaimed, leaning into his hug and wrapping her arms around him. "I got my essay back from History of Magic and I did terrible. I got such low marks and she's going to be so dissapointed and you are going to hate me." She buried her head into his shoulder, letting a few more small sobs escape her. Eventually, she pulled away, leaning over to pick up the essay so he could take a look at it.

Peter had to hold back a smirk or a full blown smile. He was so relieved Daisy’s mum was okay. His own mum barely noted his existence most of the time, and her mother had become like his own. So had James’ but it was different with Daisy’s mum. He would have been crushed if something had gone wrong with her. He was glad that wasn’t the reason for so many tears. And he wanted to smirk because Daisy was being utterly ridiculous. Of course he would never tell her that. “She isn’t going to hate you.” He assured her. And for what over a low mark? Peter took the paper from her, giving it a cursory glance before flicking it away. “And I’m not going to hate you either. You know I don’t care about grades much. Without the boys I wouldn’t get much better than that.” He smiled pulling her to him, trying to get her to relax by slipping his arm around her shoulders. He leaned in closer rubbing her leg and dropping his voice the way he learned got her attention over the years. “You are stressing over nothing Daisy.”
Peter swiped the last stray tears from her face and gave a grin at her hiccups. She was so incredibly cute, he wanted to kiss her. He wanted to… but she was a right mess of emotions and that would just be wrong. “Tell me what’s really bothering you.” He said sensing she was holding something back, as a silly paper seemed to trivial a thing to be in pieces over. “Tell me so I can make it better.”

Daisy hugged him tighter as he assured her that her mother was not going to hate her. There was a part of her that knew that, but hearing it from someone else was reassuring. And him telling her that he wasn't going to hate her for her bad grades? She was able to start to calm down, sniffling lightly as he rubbed her leg and she rested her head on his shoulder, grateful for his company.
"No, you're right. Of course you are right," she mumbled, picking her head up so she could look into his eyes. He had a way about him that she couldn't help but love. He'd always treated her so kindly and cared to much about the little things. He'd even done everything in his power to get her cat, Mr. Meowington to like him. The cat had given in, which was nice, because the summers at home she spent sneaking into the guest room to be with him would have been rough if her cat was constantly trying to claw Peter's face off.
He was also way more clever than he let himself believe. While she didn't want to admit that something else was bothering her, he knew. And she really hoped that once she told him he continued to think that she was just stressing out over nothing. "You know, you don't need the boys to get good grades. You're really smart Peter," she said with a smile, snugging back into his shoulder. "But you're right again. It's just, you graduate soon and then you're getting your own place which will be so nice since staying with my Mum can be so frustrating. I just...I'm not graduating this year and then what if you don't want to be with me anymore while I'm still in school?"

He smiled a little triumphant smile as his girl conceded defeat. He was right, Peter knew he was right, but it felt ten times better when someone told him he was. He leaned in an gave her a quick kiss, it tasted of Daisy and tears and instinctively he pulled her a little closer, resting his head on hers. He didn’t like a sad Daisy. His smiled broadened when she exaggerated his intellect, she saw him through some sort of glasses that made everything appear perfect. She had never really seen him properly he felt, otherwise she wouldn’t love him so much. But his smirk quickly faltered to be replaced by confusion. He pulled back, holding his girlfriend at arm’s length and looking into her eyes. He wanted to say how absolutely paranoid she was being, ask if maybe it was time for her monthly, but that all sounded really bad even in his head. So he took his time just looking at her beautiful face, resisting the urge to really kiss her and formulating an appropriate response that would bring Daisy out of her funk. “I would be the fool of the century to ever give you up Daisy. I love you; you know that, I would never leave you.” There. Short and simple and honest. He relaxed again, thinking the problem was solved and they could get on to doing something more enjoyable than talking about unrealistic scenarios. Peter slipped his arm back around her shoulder, snuggling in close. He moved a bit of her hair with his nose, kissing the available spot on her neck. “You know if you want.” He said quietly, pulling back to look at her again. “We could go up to my dorm and study.” Peter smirked. They would study, for a bit.

He leaned in and gave her a kiss, and Daisy wanted to melt in his arms. It was interesting, how after so much time even the simplest gestures could make her feel like she did when she had first realized that she was falling in love with him. And it was nice reminder to her that what they had was the real thing, and not something that was going to easily end. She snuggled closer to him as he rested his head on hers, tightening her grip around him. He pulled away after her words, however, and she bit her lip as she looked back into his eyes. He was thinking before he answered her, a fact that kept her calm and made her panic all at the same time. Had she been right? Was this how he was going to break up with her? Or was he simply trying to tread carefully with his words as to not upset her more? She couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face at his answer, and she gladly snuggled back up to him "I love you too," she murmured in reply, enjoying the feeling of his lips on her neck. Looking up at him as she pulled back, she did her best to ignore his smirk. Study, right. She doubted much of that would get done considering the smirk on her boyfriends face. Still, she pulled out of his arms, leaning down to grab her books and the discarded essay. Even if he only intended to help her study for a little while, it was better than not studying at all. Besides, his N.E.W.T.'s weren't that far off. Studying would be good for both of them. "Lead the way!" She exclaimed, slipping her hand into his and intertwining their fingers.

It was a crazy crazy thing, the love Daisy Hookum had for him. He didn’t deserve it, he didn’t deserve her. Not that he was going to try convincing her of that, he was selfish and he knew it; but what guy in their right mind would keep trying to convince a catch like Dais she was too good for him? Not this guy for sure. She loved him and he loved her and there wasn’t much else to it. He was lucky and made a mental note to remember that more often. If he wanted to keep his girlfriend his girlfriend he would need to be a better boyfriend. He needed to be able to read her better so he could try avoiding things like this. Peter thought he did a good job of cleaning up the mess though as now they were heading up to his dorm, her hand in his. He released her when they entered the room so he could clear a path to his bed. Man they were a messy bunch, they were all the worst at picking their things up. Once his bed was clear of odds and ends and an upturned inkpot he pulled his bag out plopping it on the bed and pulling out his Defense work. The boys were so much better at it than him but he needed to have the pretense of wanting to get some learning in for Daisy. He pulled her bag away with an inviting smile, plopping it on the bed next to his before aiming for the element of surprise. Without warning he plucked Daisy up, deposited her on the bed and then climbed in behind her, wrapping his body around hers and kissing her neck. “Ok let’s study.” He said quietly.

Daisy knew she was going to marry Peter. She had always known, ever since their first date. At least, that was what she hoped. She'd returned from their first ever trip together to Hogsmeade and told Charlotte all about how he was perfect, and was her one and only. Of course, she realized now how ridiculous she had sounded back then. It had only been their first date. But she was sure, after three years together, that she had been corrected. It was all she wanted, and she just needed to remember that he did love her. She gave a grin as he let her go once they got into the dorm, helping him clear a path to his bed. The four of them put together were like a tornado, something she had gotten quite used to in the past few years. She wasn't even sure which one was the messiest out of the bunch, although she had a sneaking suspicion that it was Remus. The calmest and most level-headed of the bunch had to have some downfall, right? She gave a gasp as suddenly Peter was picking her up, and laughed as he placed her down on his bed. She leaned back into him, cuddling as close as she could as she gathered her bag from the bed, pulling out her History of Magic book. "Studying time it is. Do you want any help with your Defense homework? Not that you need it of course!" she exclaimed, turning so she could place a kiss on his cheek. "Although your N.E.W.T.'s are coming up rather quickly, so if I'm too much of a distraction let me know."

Pete always got a warm feeling in his heart when Daisy laughed. And after the way he had found her in the common room he felt very proud of himself for cheering her up properly. Unluckily for him though, his girlfriend was not always so easily deterred by his advances, he was not able to celebrate his little victory just yet. She was determined to study and he was determined to make her happy. But she distracted him by turning around inquiring about Defense and then kissing him on the cheek. As if it was nothing, just a peck, but with his already aware state it was a bit more for him. As she went on about N.E.W.T.S. and her being a distraction, which she totally was, he was undressing her from behind with his eyes. However, he knew Daisy and she only wanted the best for him; if she thought her being there was a hindrance she would want to leave. He could not have that but he had to ease some of his hormones. Decision made he gently tugged her head until he could angle his mouth to hers and kiss her thoroughly. He kept it short and sweet and like his mind had been screaming at his nether regions it only helped to make him want to study less. He couldn’t however act on his baser urges so he reluctantly kissed Daisy on the nose and removed himself from her, scooting around until they were across from each other. “I’m glad you are feeling better.” He commented with a happy grin as he pulled his Defense work out. He wouldn’t really be studying he imaged so if she thought he needed help in Defense then he would pretend to study hard. “Whenever you want I could quiz you.” He offered, opening his text and bowing his head, he could still see her though and he watched with no shame.

Three years together, and Peter could still make her laugh when she thought she would never be able to smile. Even if it was silly to be terribly upset about her marks, her mother honestly didn't care, he still had that way about him. He was perfect for her, and she had always known that. Sirius and James had been incredibly surprised back in her third year when she had finally admitted to having a crush on Peter. Sirius still didn't seem to fully understand why they had stayed together this long, and Daisy wasn't entirely sure he ever would. It was clear, however, that Peter was hardly paying attention to what she had asked him. Instead of giving her an answer regarding his N.E.W.T.'s, he was pulling on her gently and before she could scold him his lips were on hers. Daisy couldn't complain, they were all alone in his room and considering two of the other boys were in relationships there was no guarantee of how long they would actually get the room to themselves. He pulled away from her, and she gave him a smile as kissed her nose before moving away. Studying was more important for the both of them right now, and she gave him another smile as he offered to quiz her before burying his face in his book. Daisy was almost sure that he wasn't actually ready, so she took a moment to stretch her arms above her head, doing her best to pretend that she wasn't watching him from the corner of her eye. They hadn't actually gotten around to discussing his N.E.W.T.'s in depth, and she was sure it was a conversation his wretched parents had forced on him already. But she couldn't help but be curious for her boyfriend's plans after school. So she scooted over, placing her hand in the middle of his book so that he would look up at her, "You know, you never told me what you plan to do for work after school." It was the one thing they never really sat down and talked about. The future, their future. He would be off working next year while she was finishing her last year of school, and the fear that he would leave her was still in the back of her mind, regardless of his earlier reassurances.

She, for the life of her, would be the death of him. Here he was trying to be the good boy and study like she wanted and there she was making herself all delectable. Stretching her lithe body out as if she didn’t know he would notice. Of course he noticed. How could he not, he was so very familiar with her body after all. But he remained as stoic was possible for him, continuing to ‘read’ even though his hand itched to touch her and his eyes wanted for nothing more than to drink her in fully. She wanted to study though, so he would. Or he would try; she didn’t make it very easy when she placed her hand on his book. Peter looked up at her slowly; she was so much closer now. Distracting as usual. Suddenly dread filled him. He didn’t want to talk about the future. They were here and now, that’s what mattered right? Really he had no plans yet for work; well he had a plan but he was sure Daisy wouldn’t love it; and he wasn’t really sure it was considered work, not like a real job. “Well,” he said, tossing his book aside and pulling his girl too easily into his lab. “My uncle left me a bit of money,” more than a bit actually. “I’ll use that for a while, whilst I’m doing other things.” He finished evasively. He would tell her about the Order, but he didn’t want to tell her now, not after the mess he found her in earlier. Expertly he swooped in for a kiss, hoping to distract her. Hoping they would do something other than studying with this free time.

Daisy should have known that they weren't going to get any studying done. Sure, it had been her suggestion. But their study sessions always turned into sessions of another variety. She couldn't really complain, but this year was different. Peter needed to focus, and her being around meant that he was only focused on her. And while having him being entirely focused on her was absolutely wonderful, it wasn't in the best interest of his studies. The knowledge didn't stop her from doing what she could to catch his eye, however. And the looks he was giving her - she was enjoying herself to much. When he looked up from the book, she couldn't help but smile. No, studying was certainly not going to be happening. At least not while his dorm mates were gone. Finding time to be alone while in school was almost impossible, especially in his room. N.E.W.T's could wait for another day. He pulled her into his lab, and she laughed as she snuggled up against him. But his answer phased her, it hadn't been what she was expecting. They didn't talk about the future. It was an unwritten rule they had, and one she had always followed. But the future wasn't so far away anymore, and his answer left a hollow feeling in her. She knew his Uncle had left him money, but what other things? What wasn't he telling her? Peter didn't give her time to question his words, instead pressing his lips against hers. She let him distract her for a moment, before slowly pulling away and wiggling around so that she could face him directly. He was not telling her something, and that was concerning. How long had he been hiding something from her? "What other things? What do that mean Peter?"

Peter thoroughly enjoyed all his kisses with Daisy, every one make him feel alive and wanted. This instance was no different, he didn’t want it to end; but Daisy pulled away and he didn’t even try to hide his whimper. If she wanted them to get any studying done then Pete might have suggested she didn’t shimmy so when she turned to face him. His meant to be enticing comment never left his lips; Daisy could be relentless. The boy sighed, running his hands over his face. He just didn’t want to do this tonight! “I just mean…” What was he to say? If he told her, well she wouldn’t like it, not one bit. Was he wrong for wanting to have a bit of happiness for a little while longer while they still had time together. “Look.” He said determinedly, reaching out and grasping her hands in his own. Maybe he could appease her a smidgen without giving away too much and ruining the lovely time they could be having. “I know that we share everything, and I really don’t like keeping things from you.” Here Peter looked away, that wasn’t the whole truth. Looking back into her eyes, Pete tried to convey how honest everything he was about to say really was. “But I think it’s best if I wait to tell you about my plans for…later. Only because everything isn’t set yet, I want to be sure. I promise I’ll share everything with you soon.” ‘When I’m far away and you can’t try and talk me out of it.’ His solemn face broke into a grin and he tugged Daisy back toward him, aiming for her firmly in his lap. “Now, however, I want to enjoy they time we have left in the castle. “90

Daisy wasn't surprised when Peter whimpered when she pulled away. Kisses between the two of them had always been electric, always left her wanting more. This time was no exception. But how could she focus on that sort of thing when Peter was giving her half-hearted answers about his future? She wanted him to succeed in life, to do well. And having a goal for his future was an important part of that.
Besides, if things went her way, it would be her future too.
But the conversation was one he wanted to avoid, it was obvious in the way he ran his hands over his face, the way he trailed off with his words. What could be so difficult about telling her? They had never kept secrets from each other - at least not ones that mattered. She looked at their hands as he took her hands in his, before directing her gaze back up to meet his eyes.
There was something in his words that she didn't entirely understand. And the way he glanced away from her...it left her more concerned than when she had started. But the rest of his explanation warmed her heart in a way that only he could. Whatever it was, it seemed like it was important to him. So as much as she didn't want to let it go, this time she would.
She gave a laugh as he pulled on her gently and got her back into his lap, snuggling up to him the best she could. It was true that they had little time left - and probably very little alone time left in his dorm. "Alright, but you have to tell me as soon as you can okay? I'm just worried about you, that's all. I love you Peter." Tilting her head up, she placed a kissed on his lips before pulling back once more. "Now about that time we have left in the castle..."
