Rod dragged himself inside, and Ed locked the door up behind him, trying to fix his face even as his little brother mumbled through the evening's events and the pieces started coming together. He clapped his hands to both of Rod's shoulders, giving them a squeeze as he leaned down to meet his eye. "Next time, call me." Not that Ed's methods were flawless, foolproof, when they came to girls - hardly, he'd needed their mum to deliver letters to keep Pheebs from wondering why owls were so heavily involved - but he had enough sense to keep his brother from landing himself in this kind of muck again. Or, he'd at least be in the loop enough to better help clean things up. With an escaping grin - he couldn't help but be proud of Roddy for trying, bless him, this kind of risk-taking didn't come naturally to him - he gave the kid a little shake and released him, broadly gesturing towards the living room. "Time to face the music, bud. Let's go."
Phoebe greeted Rod with a hug and a jest, and Ed turned from the gathered few as he tried to keep himself together. His brother had the first go at explaining how the two had wound up at their flat, clicking more pieces together, before rapidly trying to get them talking about anything but the trick that was coming clear. Kyra was having none of it, though, and Ed had to wonder how surprised his brother was at finding himself here. Had he really thought he could pull something like this off? Especially without cluing any of them in? Kyra's persistent smile was a trap as she waited to fully pull the trigger, and Ed held up a placating hand, looking to Phoebe for help. If anyone could talk their guest down, it was his girlfriend, and the last thing he wanted was for tonight to forever scare Rod away from going after someone he was drawn to, no matter how misguided he'd been this time. "Go easy on him, Kiks, come on. We're all guilty of not thinking something through, aren't we? You're both here now - let's make the most of that, alright?"
