Surely Arthur and Molly had a vehicle of their own, living all the way out here? But the news seemed to be groundbreaking, and she'd have to ask Fabian more about why some twentieth century concepts escaped those who came from the boarding school environment. Perhaps, in a way, Arthur reciprocated her nerves about this meeting - or he simply was a genuinely excitable fellow. "Phoebe and I had our hands full that day, I'll tell you. We got all three of the boys behind the wheel of my sister's car, still don't think she's fully forgiven me for that," she admitted with a grimace and a short laugh, "but it had to be done!"
A familiar voice turned her head and rejuvenated her spirits, and Kyra hugged her dearest friend for much too short of a time before Phoebe and Edgar made their rounds through the kitchen. It was settling for her nerves to do this with Phoebe - while Phoebe wasn't dating one of the twins, of course, the way the boys palled around made it seem like they were all part of one big family. This idea was only enhanced as Ed joked around with Molly and Arthur and they returned the energy without a second thought. Kyra exchanged a look with Phoebe as Ed introduced her in the most Edgar way possible - sickeningly sweet, although she assumed he was trying to be endearing - and sent an admiring one to Molly as she handled the lot of them like it was second nature. The redheaded woman called for her and she smiled at the encouragement from Fabian before leaving his side to go to her and Pheebs, taking up the little glass with more confidence now that she knew the bite that was coming. She'd just have to slow down after this one if she was to not make an embarrassment of herself in front of Fabian's parents... "Cheers!" She rose her glass to the others and downed the fiery liquid, coming out of it with just as much of a cough as before but far more laughter. "Fearsome Threesome? We're using that from now on, it's brilliant."
The time to leave the comfort of the kitchen was already coming, but perhaps there was some sort of magical courage in the drink or the company, because she set her glass down steadily, straightening her spine. You're just meeting more new people. You're good at people. Get out of your head about it! She let out a shocked laugh at Arthur's joke, piping in a quick - "I'm getting that story tonight!" - before the lot started to move. Parents and a baby. That's all. Nothing to be scared of. Maybe some biting from the baby - does he have enough teeth for that to be a danger yet?...
She'd wanted something real with Fabian, no more messing around, pretending they didn't care. And this is what that meant, right? Not living in their own private world for two, but making a consistent effort to include the other in the bigger scope of their lives. So when he said her name, hand out to her, Kyra came and took it without hesitation. "It's really nice to finally meet you," she said, maybe a bit too loud. Was she being too loud? What was that drink? "I know we're here to celebrate your boys, and I've got some party games in mind that I hope you'll join us in, but I hope we can take some time to get to know each other tonight too."
