Back Story
He had everything a young boy should desire, Felix knew. A big house to play in, friends in the neighborhood when they were home, caring parents, even if they were so often called away for business that his nannies did far more of the disciplining and day-to-day care-taking than they did. Even on trips abroad that he got to attend, his nanny-of-the-month was right there beside him, even on the plane. The nannies never stayed long, which Felix was constantly amused by. It wasn't as if they weren't paid well, or that he was so willfully disobedient that he drove them mad - strange, inexplicable things simply tended to happen in his general vicinity, and it wasn't his fault if that scared them. There weren't really ghosts in their home moving the furniture around, or making the appliances act up, or rattle his toys around at night.
But it sure was fun to convince them that they were, wasn't it?
He was so easily bored, though, as a child. Following his parents across Europe to this auction or that showroom, put through the paces of his schooling at home or in hotel suites and parks when he was lucky, he knew he should be grateful. But the stuff he was supposed to learn came too easily to occupy his mind, and in those times of boredom, the "ghosts" acted up terribly. There was more to this life than studying and being told not to touch anything, there had to be. He didn't see the point to what his parents did, why they cared so much about making pretty things and traveling so far to see others and sell them, beyond knowing that that was what paid for their lifestyle. He saw the sense of wonder on their faces, he knew that they were moved by the art, but at the end of the day - wasn't it just metal and gems bent into pleasing shapes? How could that make them feel so much, impress them, when it was so cold?
That art wasn't alive, not to him.
Even so, despite his protestations, his parents took the time to show him as much of the industry as they could. For surely he would get involved in the business once he was old enough, what sort of fool wouldn't?
Relief from duty and opportunity for something new came with his surprise acceptance to Beauxbatons. Of course he was bored out in the world of the moldu - that wasn't where he belonged! He belonged with all of wizardkind, he belonged in a world with magic around every corner, he belonged somewhere that was his. Finally there was challenge for him, and he thrived under the constant activity, with being surrounded by peers who could push him to be his best. He made friends who were questionable (as supportive as Timothée always was, did he have to be such a nudge to everyone else?) and those who were sweet, he found love and lost it, but through it all he found his passion for dance.
Above all, this became his pursuit, his focus, his drive - he kept up his skills during summer holidays, often skipping out on the school trips in order to make auditions and appearances for magical and moldu companies, he set his sights high and continues to study at Beauxbatons to set him up for the best chances to reach his goals. While he'd wanted to excel in his magical studies and did, his spirit wasn't as moved by them as they were by the living art. And as much joy as it brought him to show off his skills with magic to his parents, knowing that they could attend his performances with moldu companies, truly appreciate what he worked so hard for, was a satisfaction to work towards in itself. Time away from his parents and the moldu world had brought a delayed fondness for them, and he looks forward to sharing more of his life with them after his graduation.
