Character Name: Tom Marvolo Riddle
Date of birth: 31 December 1926
Age: 52
Father: Tom Riddle Sr.
Mother: Merope Gaunt
Siblings: N/A
Bloodline: Half-Blood
Back Story: Tom Marvolo Riddle was born on New Years Eve, at Wool's Orphanage in London, England. His mother, Meorpe Gaunt, died during his birth. Because of this, Tom grew up in the orphanage, and while he never called the place home, it was where he would dwell until shortly after graduation from Hogwarts. As a young child, Tom was cruel to the other children in the orphanage. While it was often provoked, as the other kids weren't exactly nice, Tom would steal things from them and often get into fights. At a young age he became aware that he was different than the other students. He was able to move things with his mind, and he could speak to snakes. He often used these powers to inflict harm on the other orphans. One boy in particular started a fight with him, and he used his abilities to hang the child's rabbit from the rafters. Two other orphans, Dennis Bishop and Amy Benson, provoked such rage from the young boy that he took them into a cave where he performed an act that traumatized the two into silence.
When Tom was eleven, he received a rather strange visitor. While at first he assumed he was being taken to an asylum, the visitor was in fact Albus Dumbledore. He told Tom of his heritage, and of his acceptance into Hogwarts. Tom believed the tales quite eagerly, his desire to be different than the rest of the orphans incredibly strong. He did not believe, however, that his mother was a witch due to her death. He refused to believe that someone who could do magic could die. Dumbledore spoke to Tom about some of his actions regarding the other orphans, and broke him of his habit of stealing their possessions. He also warned Tom of the dangers of using magic outside of school and of the repercussions, a fact that caused Tom to be guarded throughout the rest of his years.
During his time at school, Tom was a prized student. He was made a prefect in his fifth year, and eventually was Head Boy. Everyone believed him to be poor, but absolutely brilliant. He was at the top of many of his classes, and was looked upon fondly by most of the teachers. He had a small group of "friends", mostly weaker members of his house who he acted as if he cared about in public. However, they were only pawns for him to manipulate, and he didn't care for them. In his fifth year, he became obsessed with learning about his heritage. It was through is research that he learned he was an heir of Slytherin. Through this, he was able to open the Chamber of Secrets and unleash a basilisk upon the school. He only managed to kill one student, a poor girl who happened to be in the bathroom during a time in which he released the beast. He was, however, able to injure many other students. After the girl dyed, he believed they would shut down Hogwarts. Unwilling to return to the orphanage, he blamed the incident on a student named Rubeus Hagrid, and a spider he was keeping as a pet.
While searching through his heritage, he looked for an instances he could find of his father's name. He refused to believe his mother could have been magical, as she had died, and Tom had a fear of death. However, he was never able to find any his name, and became angry that his father was a muggle. He changed his name, refusing keep the name of his filthy muggle father. Tom Marvolo Riddle became Lord Voldermort.

TEMPERAMENT
Voldermort is a classic psychopath. He has no empathy, shows no remorse, he is selfish, and he is violent. While some wizards are evil, Voldermort is far worse. He wants everything his way, and will do whatever it takes to get it. He hates anything to do with muggles, anything less than pure wizard blood is a disgrace. Voldermort fears nothing but death, and if he were to approach a boggart it would take the form of his own corpse.
Due to his conception while his father was under the effects of a love potion. Voldermort is completely unable to feel love, or anything close to it, for another human being. While he enjoys that he is very willing and loyal followers, he does not care for them in the way they care for him. If they died, he would hardly bat an eyelash at their loss. There are very few of his followers that he would do things for, and generally he only does things because what they want interests him. He doesn't care for a single human other than himself.
He is also cunning and manipulative. He has no problem lying to get people to believe what they want. He will make a promise, but that does not mean he intends to keep it. Of course, those who have choosen to ever call him out on this flaw tend to meet a rather unfortunate end, so while many do know the promises he makes them will not last, they don't say a word. If they do, their death with be unpleasant. And no, not at this hands. He reserves personal deaths like that for those who offend him highly, his is far too busy to deal with any sort of low peon who may need to be killed after their part has been played. No, death is the job of his followers.
