Dear Mary,
I hope summer finds you well. It's been a while since we've last spoken to each other. I have to apologize for keeping Alice here, as I'm sure your family misses her dearly.
Would it be too much to ask if you would want to spend some of your summer break here at Longbottom Hall? Alice has probably owled you already, though I felt it better to write to you myself and send you an invitation. It would make me very happy if you'd accept.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely, Frank

11 July 1976 Dear Frank, Honey, let me assure you, if I'd had any inkling of Alice's unhappiness in this last month, I would've come to get her myself instead of persevering through these long summer days without her. As it stands, she's been nothing but glowing in her letters, and I know I have you to thank for that. So - thank you, Frank, sincerely. That said, I have been dying for an invitation since her first letter arrived, and very gladly will accept! I've shown Edith and Simon your letter and they've agreed that I may join you both, so I will see you shortly after this owl arrives! Love, Mary
