Back Story:
The story begins on the 17th of May, when Gregory and Veronica Greengrass welcomed their little girl to the world. As members of the Sacred 28, expectations on them were high, and the couple found that they couldn’t afford the neighborhoods where many of the other pureblood families lived. In fact, the only wizard area they could afford was next in the little muggle area of Barking, and it was there Annette felt her life truly began.
When they moved into 11 Paragon Close, she had no idea what the kids of Barking would end up meaning to her. From a young age, she was off to hang out with them, roughhousing with the boys and playing dress-up with the girls. Her parents despised it, all the socialization that she was getting with muggles And so something had to be done, to secure their place in the better world of magic that existed out there. That was how they had come to the conclusion that they were going to marry her off. She thought little of it, she was a child, much too young for marriage, and quite honestly she didn't know what it meant to be betrothed to someone, It was the least of her worries.
Over the years, she learned things about her muggle neighbors. Kyra and Phoebe were close, often always at each other's houses. Edgar and the other Bones children were magical, and she could listen to Edgar and the Prewetts twins that came to visit tell stories about magic and Hogwarts all day. The more her parents tried to discourage her from spending time with them all, Annette loved Barking, and the more they pushed her to stay home, the more she snuck out to see what it was about muggles that was so bad.
Before she knew it, Hogwarts came, and she was off to join the Bones kids at the fancy boarding school that wasn’t often discussed in their neighborhood. Annette was worried, because Hogwarts was big, and what if she was separated from her friends? She knew people would look down on her for being friends with the Bones children, just as people would hear her name and associate her with the likes of her parents. All she could hope for was that she wasn't in Slytherin, and she got her wish. Annette was quite proud to be a Huflepuff with their dear friend Roderick. It was at school that she met Rabastan Lestrange for the very first time, and learned a lesson from the Prewetts that would stick with her forever - there's nothing stranger than a Lestrange.
At first, she didn't care much about being betrothed to Rabastan. It didn't mean they had to get married, and she was 11, so it wasn't like it was going to happen anytime soon. But as the years past, she learned what was expected of her, and what would not be tolerated. She never had to spend time at the Lestrange manor, for which she was thankful, but all official events did seem them attending together. It wasn't that she hated Rabastan, she just didn't approve of many of the things he or his older brother got up to. And having to spend time with not only the Lestranges, but also the Black sisters, put it into perspective for her how cruel people could actually be. She treasured her relationship with the muggles of her neighborhood and the Bones and Prewett crew dearly.
Without telling her future fiancé of her plans, she dedicated herself to understanding and advocating for muggles and muggleborn students, something she knew drove Rabastan up the wall. But what was there to be done, when this was what both of their parents wanted. Sometimes, she did find him funny. She could see why other girls in Slytherin found him charming, and he didn't seem to care who she dated on the side during their years at school. The older they got, the more pressure Annette felt from her parents, and the more she was inspired to apply to the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office.
The summer after graduation brought a few things - the first being the end of her betrothal to Rabastan thanks to the quite timely death of his father, her new job working as Arthur Weasley's assistant - and Bilius. Roderick and Grace had insisted she come to one of the parties being thrown at Roderick's flat, and that's where she'd met her boss's younger brother. He was charming, and funny, and by the end of the night she had been smitten. It was her luck that the attraction wasn't one-sided.
Since then, she worries about her boyfriend, she pushes for laws to help muggles, and she hopes for the world to be a better place.
