Athena knew, above everything else, that she was loved.
Born to Flynn and Gemma Fenwick, living in a little flat above a pub in London, she was loved. She doesn’t remember much of her life before Benji was born, but she knew that she was glad that Benji was it. Athena loved being a big sister, and she loved the little flat they lived in. She’d often pop down to the pub to talk to the owner, and she’d help him clean glasses before they were open for the day. She thought it was just wonderful, the way muggles had things figured out without magic. But she always knew she would go to Hogwarts, and she assumed she’d always have this little flat to come back to.
Until she was ten, and their dad got a better job and moved them out of London to the countryside. It was a big change, from living in a busy city to adjusting to the loneliness of Cheshire. She at least had Benji to keep her company, but it wasn’t long after the move that she was off to Hogwarts, and was leaving him behind. She knew that adjusting to life without her around to talk to would be difficult for him, but she hadn’t expected it to be difficult for her. She made immediate friends with one of her dormmates, Alice Logan, who also had a sibling that they’d left behind.
But she adjusted to life at Hogwarts, and from a young age she knew what she wanted to do. Sure, broom making was exciting for her father, but she had bigger goals. She wanted to be a curse-breaker, and travel the world. And so she worked hard, she made friends in other houses, and she thrived at Hogwarts. Finally Benji joined her at Hogwarts, and she hoped that they would be in the same house. Nina was disappointed when he was sorted into Ravenclaw, but she knew that the sorting hat knew what it was doing. She excelled in her classes, and pushed her brother as often as she could. To grow, to make friends, to pursue his dreams. Dreams were meant to be pursued, of course. They bickered of course, as siblings due, but Athena loved Benji and wanted the best for him.
Graduation came sooner than she expected, and before she knew it she was in training to be a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts. She moved back into the little flat above the pub, although in her training she wasn’t home very often. But Athena loves her job, and visits her family when she can.
