VITAL INFO
Character Name: Bridget Leigh Applebee (B, Bridge, Bridie)
Date of birth: May 31st, 1960
Age: 18
Father: Oliver Applebee (muggle, British Ministry, Department for Transport)
Mother: Eileen Applebee (muggle, British Ministry, Office of the Leader of the House of Commons)
Sibling: Bennett Applebee (18, Hufflepuff graduate)
Bloodline: muggleborn
Back Story
Magic.
It was something that belonged to fairytales, something reserved for play pretend, until it was theirs.
That was the important thing - it was hers as much as it was Bennett's.
They came into the world together, and so it was that they journeyed through it. To Hogwarts and into Hufflepuff House, Bridget and her brother even found a home-within-a-home on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a hardworking pair of Beaters. While Bennett can best her in an arm wrestling competition, Bridget is gifted with balance and pushes her broom to top speed, and has taken more than a few Bludgers to the body for the sake of the team. The thrill of magic hasn't fully gone away, even as her proficiency in spellwork and potioneering grew steadily throughout her schooling. There was always something new to experience, fun tidbits to learn from friends who always lived within the magical world, and there was Hogsmeade. When third year hit and the first visit came, the young badger had had to be dragged away from the village. Not that the castle they spent their time in was stifling in the least, or that it was coming up short on nooks and crannies for her to explore, but she fell in love with the energy of the wizarding village. That went even more for Zonko's. However fond Bridget has remained of the joke shop since that first day, that doesn't mean all of her attempted pranks are successful. She's far too prone to fits of give-it-all-away giggling for that, but enjoys the attempts all the same.
Through her time at Hogwarts she learned to be a stalwart friend, enjoying the relationships she formed inside her House and beyond. Her shoulder could always be leaned on for a cry, and she was quick with a pick-me-up snack and a laugh. Belief in herself, her gut, and her voice has grown through the years, even as the whispers - and worse - snuck up on her from time to time. She is proud to be her parents daughter. She will never stop looking for love. And Mazoe brings good luck, not bad, thank you very much.
Their parents have struggled to wrap their minds around the world of magic ever since the strange things that happened around their children were confirmed to be because of it, and held out hope that they would return to the muggle world after their schooling. This caused some tension in the family as the years went on and life among witches and wizards became more and more natural for the twins. Where there had been so much understanding in their youth, despite any trouble the bright little ones got up to, there was now distance and discord. How could they no longer feel a sense of belonging in the same world?
Because Bridget knew where she belonged - with magic around every corner, in the arms of her friends, by her brother's side. And wasn't that part of growing up? Finding where you belonged?
She's optimistic that their minds will open as she and Bennett prove they can do well for themselves outside of the protective walls of Hogwarts. Living in a fun-filled house in the quaint wizarding village sounds too good to be true, especially as Benny is coming too. While she figures that someday, eventually, their lives will come to a point where apparition is needed to get from one of their homes to another, she's grateful that that time has not come. So rarely has there been a day when his wasn't one of the first faces she saw, and Bridget isn't ready for that separation just yet. She's here to support the fun-loving students of Hogwarts in their endeavors, for even when it seems like everything in the world is crashing down around them, you can always count on kids wanting to pull harmless pranks on their friends. Somebody's got to show them where to find the frog spawn soap, eh?
