Back Story:
Bridget was his first memory, and fate willing, she would be his last. She was his constant, always had been, from birth. From the moment he followed her into the world, seven minutes after she had, they had been partners. As children, they were thick as thieves and always getting up to something or another, especially when their magic came into play. Their parents were admittedly surprised, as were the twins, who had always believed magic was only for stories, but it all worked out in the end. After all was explained, the family got on with their lives in much the same fashion. Bridg and Ben being the bright, adventurous children they were and their parents being proud to have such children. Only now, there was a whole new world open to them and Ben was eager to explore it, he couldn’t wait to go to Hogwarts.
Once there it seemed everything just sort of fell into place. Schoolwork -which he was admittedly not superb at but worked hard anyway-, their house -Hufflepuff just seemed to suit them so well, but of course, that’s why the hat had chosen it for them-, their friends -who could ask for a better bunch of rascals?-, and last but not least, Quidditch! They had taken to the air like naturals and together he and Bridget defended their team from bludgers at every game, a fine pair of Beaters he thought they made. They barely needed to speak, they were so in tune with one another, and where he was strong, Bridget was quick and steady. In all things, they complemented one another.
But Hogwarts also taught him how to exist outside of his sister. There, he grew a bit of his own identity as the laughing face of every morning and the dancing feet at the end of every night and all the jokes in between. He made friends of his own and found he really liked baking, and candy, which he could eat all day. And he was all that all on his own. Still, Bridget was his rock, and though he was all those things without her, she was the one he wanted to share all those things with. He didn’t mind one bit that everyone referred to them as one person, he had the best sister and best friend there was, it was worth it.
After school, thankfully, neither have the inclination to strike out on their own yet. Ben suspects there would be a day they wouldn’t always be together, maybe after the damnable, terrifying war was over, but for now, he’s happy with his life just as it is. Besides his newly awkward relationship with his parents, he gets to live with amazing people, work in fun places, all the while getting the time to explore the exciting side of adulthood. Like getting to eat cake for dinner.
