Back Story:
My name is Leon Scamamder. Yeah, like that Scamander, the one who wrote the book. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I’m not saying being related to the one and only Newt Scamander is a bad thing, it’s just that I feel like everyone expects me to follow into his footsteps. And truthfully, there is nothing I would rather do less. But I’m getting ahead of myself here.
I was born in early 1960, in Dorset. Mum and Dad love being able to be close to the beach which I think is why they settled there. Dad met Mom in America, she was their version of an Auror. He told me one time he told Mum her eyes were like salamanders, which somehow she found cute. Otherwise I don’t think she would have ever moved here and had me. But they did, and I grew up in a magical little place. There was also magic around, and always something knew to learn.
By the time I went to Hogwarts, I knew everything there was to know about magical creatures. Dad would quiz me sometimes, he thought it was fun. I thought that was too much knowledge to have about something, especially when I couldn’t even take Care of Magical Creatures until year three. What I wanted to know more about was making friends, and how to not get expelled from the school that my dad was expelled from. Luckily for me I was sorted into Ravenclaw where I made plenty of friends, and found a house that understood my desire to consume all knowledge that I could.
Some people say I’m a bit shy, but the truth is I just don’t know what to talk to strangers about. I’ll talk someone’s ear off if we are friends, usually when I go into a rant about something. I do still care a lot about animals, which is why I’ve stuck with CoCM even though I’m not learning anything new. But my real passion is astronomy, there’s just something so peaceful about looking at the stars. The stars are always there, where they are supposed to be. After school, I’m hoping to become an Astronomer, something I don’t think Dad is too pleased about,
