Augustus was a shining example of a Slytherin student. As a beater for his house quidditch team, he did anything he could to help win the game. He charmed his professors so that most of them enjoyed him, if not though, he was also the perfect student. But in his spare time, he schemed with his friends in order to gain favor with the girls. He dated many of the girls at Hogwarts, both in and out of his house, and even more once he graduated. None of them really catching his eye enough to be taken seriously for too long.
Augustus excelled at Defense against the Dark Arts and studied the subject beyond school, eventually testing his penchant for dark magic. He found it suited him and aided him in his pursuit of becoming an Unspeakable for the Ministry of Magic. Augustus later joined the Death Eaters in his early 20's and almost instantly Lord Voldemort recognized his abilities and began using him as a spy. He created a network of informants and whisperers both in and out of the government, devoting much of his time to his work.
Augustus had always been something of a ladies’ man, never keeping one witch around long enough to form a mutual attachment. In his younger years he would have been considered a player, and now in his 40s he still did just fine with the fairer sex. It was considered a known fact among his mother’s friends that Augustus wasn’t the type to settle down; the old bitties sympathized with Anneliese Rookwood, reminding her that Auggie was a good man and driven in his work. “Not every man is meant to be a family man,” they assured her. Driven by his work was a phrase Augustus had heard often. He was good at his job, though few truly knew what his job entailed.
He was in his late twenties when he had a short-lived affair with a witch whom he had apparently gone to school with, though she was younger and the only memories of her he could muster were that she used to sometimes hang around his friends in the common room, though no one ever paid her any mind. But now, graduated from school and grown into her features, Augustus was more than happy to entertain her for as long as he desired but when his work for the Ministry and Lord Voldemort began to occupy more of his time, Augustus seemed to disappear without a trace. Or so he thought…Unbeknownst to Augustus, he sired a child who was now old enough to attend Hogwarts themselves. This once unremarkable witch has recently re-emerged and brought with her the shocking news that the Rookwood family is larger than once thought.

Augustus is definitely the sort of bloke that will strike first and ask questions later, especially when it comes to the people he loves or his beliefs. He has quite an explosive temper but has learned to refrain from compulsive actions in front of anyone important like his mum, ministry colleagues, or the Dark Lord. As easily angered as Auggie could be, he is also a man of principle. His loyalty is rarely called into question, and his drive to ensure the ones he cares for are protected is ferocious – to put it mildly.
Raised in a traditional pureblood household and feeling strongly in some of Lord Voldemort’s promises to the magical community, Augustus joined the Death Eaters more as a logical endeavor than one of the heart. It was clear to Augustus that a war was on the horizon and the odds were in favor of this ruthless wizard. He made his allegiance known and Lord Voldemort quickly took a liking to the charming Unspeakable. Despite his fidelity to Voldemort and the cause, Augustus' ultimate loyalty is to his family which he puts above all else.
