Back Story:
The Rowle famiy, proudly part of the Sacred 28, was on the outside a loving and well rounded family. On the inside, however, there was a tad bit of chaos. The third child of her parents, Catherine found that they gave more of their attention to Aric, the heir to their fortune. Which was fine by her, because it meant more time unattended to get into trouble. As a child, Catherine was always out having an adventure around the property they lived on in Scotland, usually with her younger two siblings tagging along once they were old enough. They fought dragons and rescued princesses, and got good at flying on. broomsticks. Bridgette and Allistar hardly paid attention to the three youngest, and that was something that Catherine had always thought had worked in her favor. She got to be free - there was no needlework, or attending pureblood teas. No, all that was saved for Rebekah, their eldest.
Catherine loved Rebekah, but also couldn't stand her.. She reminded her so much of their mother, so callous and uncaring. But that was what Bridgette had molded Rebekah to be - the perfect pureblood wife. And while there were times Catherine wanted her mother's attention to be on her for once, she didn't fancy the stuck up parties and boring hobbies that Rebekah was involved with. To say that Catherine and Rebekah were close would be laughable, but they maintained a civil relationship. It wasn't until Rebekah was married off to a Parkinson and their mother's attention shifted to her that Catherine felt she finally understood her older sister. The pressure to have Catherine married off as soon as possible was suffocating, and while living with roommates was not the choice she would have made, Catherine wanted out of her parents house, and out of their reach. Thankfully, her years at Hogwarts had given her the perfect roommates, and she spent the next few years living with the girls she considered sisters.
Of course, there was one good thing that came of the dates her parents frequently set her up on. On a particularly boring date, with a man whose name she couldn't even remember, she had met Augustus Rookwood. Not for the first time, of course - they'd shared a house in school together - but it was the first time as adults. And a few drinks into her night, with a lot of flirting, she found herself in his bed. And nine short months later, she welcomed her son into the world. Thorfinn was everything to Catherine, even if she did have to live in a dingy flat that she could afford with her salary. She'd never told Augustus, although to be fair they didn't have the same orbits. He was an Unspeakable at the Ministry, and she spent many months out of her year at Hogwarts, teaching Alchemy. It truthfully didn't cross her mind, she didn't want or need Augustus Rookwood in her life, and she was perfectly capable of raising her son on her own, A short lived affair did not make a one a father.
Of course, the universe had other plans, and a run in at the Ministry introduced Thorfinn to his father, although she was sure to keep that news from her son. There was no denying it, her son a spitting image of his father. She'd laid low over the years as she raised her son, and yet here she was arranging visits between the two of them, Thorfinn desperate to know the Dad he had always wanted.

TEMPERAMENT
Catherine was always called a free spirit by her mother, a difficult child who wanted to forge her own path instead of the one society set out for her. Often describe as kind, but not nice, Catherine was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend, and quick to insult anyone who harmed someone she cared for. She would never be described as quiet, and while some might call her loud, she liked to consider it to be passion. She loves deeply, even if she would never admit it, and takes joy in seeing her niece and nephew, and her son, grow up and take on the world. Always there to listen to Euphadora when her mother was too busy being disgustingly in love with her husband. She encouraged Ender's passion of painting, every piece he had done for her hanging in her home.
