The only child of Bran and Glenda Jones, Hestia always knew what the word family meant. She was loved from the very beginning and assumed that all families were just like hers. Warm, friendly - and magical. It was a nice life, growing up in Holyhead. She got to see the Harpies play whenever she wanted, there were fairies around to watch, and everyone was always so kind.
When she was four, her parents enrolled her in the Academy of Broom Flying. The Harpies were her favorite team from the time she could talk, and Quidditch was her passion. She was nine when she decided that she was going to play professionally when she graduated from school. Her magical world was amazing, and she couldn’t imagine it any other way.
She was eleven by the time she realized that the world was not exactly as it seemed. She knew about muggles, but only in passing. She had only ever seen them in London, and they didn’t often spend time in muggle parts of town. But it was very quickly after her birthday that Hestia realized not all families were the same. The Jones family had always been pureblood, and she had never experienced hatred. But when visiting Diagon Alley to get school supplies, it was made clear to Hestia that some magical families were too stuck up, and not to be trusted. It was a good learning experience and one that she swore she would never forget.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Hestia was sorted into Hufflepuff. And it was there that she learned family could also have another meaning - and that sometimes family was not always blood. She flourished in the house, and in the classes that she found the most exciting. There was so much to learn and do, and it wasn't surprising that her schoolwork wasn't always her top priority. Learning about people and the world around her was always much more fascinating that studying or writing essays.
And then when she was able, she tried out for the Quidditch team. Being a chaser for the Hufflepuff team was the start she needed to live out her dreams. She formed new friendships because of the sport, although none ever as close as she had with her best friends. But as the years went on, the world got harsher. Third-year was a reminder that evil existed. Fourth-year was a reminder that she was too trusting. The sixth year was a lesson in relationships.
Now she is starting her seventh year, and while she is determined to keep her grades high in the classes she enjoys, her passion to do what is right is what drives her. There’s been too much death and destruction, inching ever closer to being on her front door. Hestia won’t sit back and let it happen.

Hestia is spunky, and she likes to reflect that in how she dresses. If it's comfortable and makes her feel like she can take on the world, she'll wear it. She mainly sticks to dresses, as pants are too restricting (and so incredibly warm), but she's warmed up on the idea of actually wearing pants after she hit puberty and start noticing boys, and realizing that she wasn't exactly one to sit like a lady in the common room. And while she is short, she doesn't understand the appeal of wearing heels unless she absolutely has to. She'd much prefer to spend most of her time in pajamas.

But she's more than a pretty face and a high-energy person. Hestia is a classic sweetheart, and anyone who meets her knows it. She cares deeply for her friends and family, and always looks for the good in people. In a world where there is so much bad, Hestia likes to look on the positive side of life and keep a smile on her face, even if she doesn't feel like it on the inside. She's smart, even if her grades don't always prove it. She has a way of coming up with plans that keep everyone happy, and a way with words that she tries to not upset anyone.
