Back Story:
There's not much to say, really.
Elliott is sure you already know a similar story, but as this requires some sort of record, he is, of course, willing to oblige.
For as little of a "people person" as he is, he does understand and respect rules, so here we go.
Pureblooded wizarding couple raises three boys. The eldest, who we shall call Joel seeing as that is his name, was a miniature Mr. Thomas. Nothing more fired him up than going to work with Father and the goblins. But while Father's work at the bank was on the friendly hospitality side of things, Joel sought the behind-the-scenes of record-keeping. Exhilarating stuff, really, and once he had completed his Hogwarts education that was where he went.

Next came the middle boy, Oliver, who seemed to enjoy anything that went bang in the middle of the night, or the middle of the day. While his brothers were content with their books, Oliver seemed to have decided to make it his life's mission to cause as much of a ruckus as he could to make up for the lackluster efforts his brothers put forth. The boys' mother never said she appreciated the effort, but his talkative nature has gained him more friends than the others' put together, and he now puts his vocabulary to use working for the newspaper.
The third boy was a sickly child, appearing stunted in growth when compared to the others. He was never gleeful and giddy, and his family may have thought him slow, due to his reluctance to speak and socialize. But although he didn't show much in terms of emotion or acknowledgement of others, that didn't mean he wasn't taking everything in. Elliott's mind is like a good muggle sponge, and in his younger years it soaked up everything around him to the point of overwhelming the child. He has since learned to filter, to zero in on what is important to him, and pour his energy fully into just that.
During his Hogwarts years, he and Madame Pomphrey were often found arguing over the actuality of his ailments. He made few friends, but those he made were generally in his House, and just as little into drama and the fleeting nature of most teenage conversations as he was. Elliott's drive is to learn and apply, so talk of relationships or current events bores him; he will likely take his leave if conversation turns to this. He is a man made for the indoors, to put his mind to work to explore and potentially expose the mysteries of this world.
