Meredith Mulciber was typically not one to make rash decisions, she was known for being very calculated, and it was very unlike her to do anything without thinking it over amply. Which is why she surprised even herself when, while browsing Flourish and Blotts she had decided, without any real consideration at all, that she was quite tired of her ridiculously long hair getting in the way when she was trying to read; and just like that it was decided, she would just have to cut it all off. Another part of her knew she would get satisfaction from it; Marc loved her long blonde hair. Or so he had said.
She told her mother at the counter she wanted a fresh new start for her sixth year and what her plan to achieve it involved. Araura, who had been worried about her only child after the horrendous debacle of an engagement –she had told Clever she was too young and naive-, had agreed without much explanation. Besides they were here shopping for new school things, she could barely believe her little girl was going to be a sixth year in only a few weeks. Meredith found herself in sort order in a stylist chair with Felix at the helm, her mother’s extravagant hairdresser. She experienced a brief moment of panic, -why was she doing this? - before she remembered she was a witch and could grow it back if she hated it. But she didn’t hate it. She loved it. Meredith couldn’t imagine why she hadn’t thought if it sooner and after only a few day of wonder at how easy it was to fix and manage and how it never feel in her eyes while she was reading and how who knew hair could make you so much happier, she didn’t think of it again. Until the ride to Hogwarts that was three weeks later that was. She had met Avery on the platform and the other girl had complimented her on it which was nice, but then all the prefects looked at her askew when she had joined the compartment, and then there were the boys. Usually, Meredith’s reputation preceded her and she got little attention from the masses. It seemed, however, every time she stopped on her rounds of the Express to check an unruly compartment there was one boy or another being a little too… forward. Well really it was only two boys, and one of them quickly took back his offer of a tryst on the Astronomy tower when he realized who she was. In short order Meredith found herself in the back of the train, completing her prefect's duties in record time, and feeling like she didn’t much like her new haircut anymore. Resolving to not let other people dictate how she felt or what she did she slipped into an empty compartment with a sigh, pulling the shade down and pressing her head to it, she thumbing out the letter slipped between the pages of her shiny new journal. He had written to her, after months of silence between them and countless tears and un-mailed letters on her part, he had written to her.

Sh*t, it was good to be back at Hogwarts. Well - on the way back. He hadn't laughed like this in months. But then again, Doc didn't laugh like this with anyone but his closest friends, and Hestia Jones fit the bill there. "No, no - I'm serious! Honestly, Mum was pissed, but it was so worth it," he said between laughs. He'd told the story to some friends over the summer, but he'd had to edit so much out of it since they were muggles. And the story of how Doc had snuck exploding bonbons into the candy bowl in the engineering faculty lounge at Cardiff just wasn't as funny if it didn't end with professors screaming in shock at the unexpected explosions brought on just by touching the candies. From his super secret hiding place outside of the lounge, he could hear the screams and crashes of furniture being toppled as - he'd heard from his mother - the bowl was knocked over, sending fresh waves of explosions as the bonbons flew to the floor and bounced about, and he smelled the telltale aroma of coconut and chocolate. His mother had not wasted a second in hunting him down, yelling at him in her native Hindi. It was a comical sight, the diminutive woman full of fury yelling up at him, and had earned him a banishment from accompanying her to the university. Which had been his ploy all along, really - his summer should be spent outdoors and with friends, not as an extra set of hands in her lab! However, given his lack of an Apparition license and relative seclusion, he hadn't been able to see anything of his Hogwarts friends. A right shame, but it just made this reunion that much sweeter! Still shaking with laughter, Doc threw an arm around the girl. "Tyrd yma del," he said affectionately, leading them down the train corridor. They'd found each other and just gotten to talking, swapping stories, right then and there. But Doc had a few things in mind. They could find some more friends, or find some privacy. Having her close to him like this after months apart, there was little less that he wanted to do than kiss her. Sure, he'd had some fun over the summer, but this was Hestia. They were more than good together, and unless his eyes deceived him, she'd gotten even better looking. Who could blame him for wanting to sneak a snog? After a little trial and error, Doc opened another compartment, hopeful that this one would yield them friends or a secluded place - and found himself looking down at Meredith Mulciber. With a drastically cropped haircut. It suited her, he could objectively think, but this wasn't someone he really wanted to see. The Slytherin prefect and he didn't share a pleasant history - more one of her catching him out after curfew again and again - and he didn't want to be brought down like she usually did. They were having such a nice time! "So sorry, Mere bear," he said with a giddy grin, not knowing where in the world that unnecessary nickname had come from. "We'll just leave you be - unless you were leaving?"*come here, my pretty

"You're joking right? You didn't honestly put exploding bonbons into the candy dish at a muggle school?" Hestia asked, her laugh growing louder as Doc answered her. It was such a good prank, Hestia was a tad upset they hadn't thought of it together or attempted to pull it off during the school year. Sure, they weren't the school's best pranksters, but Hestia thought they did quite well for themselves when it came to jokes. Hestia had missed Doc, perhaps more than she missed her other friends. Of course she was excited to see everyone, but Doc was completely secluded from her. Even if they did live in the same country, she couldn't simply show up on his doorstep unannounced. Particularly without any method of transportation that would be acceptable to muggles. Exchanging letters was nearly as sweet as running up to him on the platform and jumping into a hug, or listening to him laugh as they talked about their summer. And it certainly wasn't as good as feeling him pull her into his arms, and she appreciatively wrapped an arm around his waist as the went down the corridor, Hestia knowing exactly what Doc had in mind. A lot of the compartments were full of people that they knew, but not necessarily that they wanted to sit with. And after Doc fumbled with a compartment door for a while, Hestia thought they were in luck. Of course, that was before she spotted Meredith Mulciber. She elbowed Doc in the ribs as he addressed the Slytherin prefect, knowing full well that this new nickname he had come up with wasn't going to sit well. The last thing Hestia wanted was the two of them getting into trouble before they even got to the school. "Yea, prefects do have rounds on the train don't they?" It was more of a statement than a question, Hestia hoping that Meredith would leave them to have this compartment to themselves.

Meredith,
I suspect you will receive this letter just before you return to school, I wish you a good year; I confess some sadness that I will not be returning as well. I also suspect that if you have gotten this far it means you do not intend to burn this letter unread and that I have your atten- It was a testament to Meredith’s self-proclaimed amazing self-control that she did not jump when the compartment door un-expectantly opened. She was so engrossed in her letter she had barely been paying attention to her surroundings. She did not have the self-control or rather the want to keep a sneer from her features, however, when the two Hufflepuff’s opened their idiotic mouths.
Meredith took a few moments to fold up her letter and slip it back in her journal, pushing wayward thoughts of her ‘ex’ from her mind, for the time being, all the while regarding her unwanted guests with obvious disdain. Was this really to be the start of the year? After everything that happened at the end of the last year? No matter, she could handle this small inconvenience.“Dearborn.” She impressed even herself with the amount of contempt she managed to jam into a single name.
The male badger had provided plenty of entertainment for her in the past, he was a rule-breaker, and Meredith really did love catching his kind in her prefect clutches. Now, however, he was not really breaking any rules, he was just being annoying. “Jones.” Usually, this one wasn’t much on the snake's radar, she was useless after all and only became an issue when she was with feather brain next to her, right night now. The other female was being just as annoying all on her own and rather bold at that.
Gracefully the Slytherin turned away and sat purposefully in the middle of the cushioned bench, crossing one leg over the other and looked for the entire world the picture of comfort. She fixed the pair with a sickly sweet smile. Resisting the urge to flip her hair –she didn’t have hair to flip anymore- Meredith addressed the two intruders. “My prefect duties are none of your concern.” She said shortly, dismissively. “If you don’t wish to be in my company it is you who will leave.” Her gaze rested on the other girl heavily, a challenge clear in their hazel depths. She turned her hard eyes on Dearborn next and her smile slipped into something a little more malicious. “But if you do stay I must warn you that detention will be the least of your worries if you call me that again, ever.”

"I honestly did - so offended that you'd doubt the truth of my words!" He laughed with the beautiful girl, surprising himself at how happy he was to be with her again. "Got me out of lab duty, so all's well, really," Doc assured her with a grin before starting their journey down the train together. Their bags were stowed randomly - in the first compartment they'd found with some empty space - and they had ages before they needed to change, so could absolutely freely wander and hopefully find a cozy spot... Unfortunately, that dream was delayed yet further after they'd stumbled upon a Slytherin prefect. Doc winced playfully at Hestia's nudge, not much bothered as Ms. Mulciber gave them such withering looks. He couldn't be much bothered by anything, not right now. Yeah, the girl in the compartment could write him up - but did she think she'd put the fear of God into him, looking at him like that? Hestia's helpfulness wasn't proving immensely helpful, unfortunately, and Doc sighed, transferring his weight from one foot to the other, as they waited for the prefect to speak. She may give us the compartment..."may" being the operative word... While he didn't mind being under Meredith's glare, Doc didn't enjoy Hestia being subject to it; his fingers stroked her shoulder as they waited out the storm, and as it came and went, he just gave the blonde a smile. "Just playing around, Meredith," Doc emphasized with a slight pout. While it'd been a long shot, convincing the stubborn girl to leave her compartment, it wasn't worth a fight. He and Hestia would find another spot, one without such gloom. "Lighten up - enjoy the ride, eh?" Exchanging a look with Hes, he shrugged and gave the blonde a wave on his way out. As the badgers departed, the tall fifth year wasn't too surprised - but was very much relieved - when he saw a pair of Meredith's friends heading their way. Good to avoid them, he thought, grateful that they'd left when they had. While he wasn't the confrontational sort naturally, apparently his tongue was aiming to get him into trouble today, and being stuck with those girls would be a prime place for that. The tall blonde, Bronwyn, had dated their Eddie for a bit, but had broken up with him over the summer. Hadn't broken his heart, luckily, but Doc wasn't too put out about not having to be around the girl anymore. He gave her and the little brunette a nod as they passed them, giving Hes' shoulder a squeeze. Ducking down and hopefully out of earshot, he whispered, "Dodged a few bullets there - should we see how Eddie's doing?"

When you were as well-connected and well-loved as Lydia Avery, you could turn any mundane morning into an event. Seeing as this was no mundane morning but the first day of her sixth year at Hogwarts, the brunette's usually high ambitions were even greater than normal. She returned to King's Cross Station arm-in-arm with her Charlie, more than ready to embrace their roles as Hogwarts' most influential couple. Someone had to fill the slot, and who was better suited to it than they were? And so loud, excited greetings with friends and acquaintances were only to be expected as they mingled, and while some of it was most definitely a front, Lydia was genuinely looking forward to being back at the wizarding school. Summer allowed many freedoms, of course, and while she loved her family, she found she enjoyed them more when they'd had some time apart. Once on the train itself, she wasted no time in finding a compartment with her dear Winnie - their third, with a stunning new hairdo, was at her prefect's meeting - and catching up while Charlie took care of business of his own. She and her roommate had much to discuss - the blonde had broken up with Eddie Brown over the summer, good riddance in Lydia's mind, which meant that, as her friend, Lydia had the opportunity to not only hear more details about the doomed-from-the-beginning relationship, but also pick the other's brain about suitable suitors. She had to help her friend out! While Eddie's blood was pure, he was a Hufflepuff, and just too...silly. He wasn't nearly good enough for her Bronwyn, and she was most excited to set the girl up before too long. Besides, she doubted Meredith would allow Lydia to make her a side-project - that break-up had been...much more world-shaking than that of Bronwyn and Eddie. "I really think I could get Ethan to see you like that," she assured, shoulders wiggling with excitement at the thought of the greatness of potential in the pair. "Let me put in a good word, won't you?" After gaining some sense of her friend's permission - she wasn't one to give up on a good idea like this without a bit of a fight - Lydia stood, straightening the skirt of her dress, the lay of her necklace, before holding her hand out to the tall blonde. "Let's find Meredith, shall we? Her meeting can't have taken this long, and I need to see that hair of hers again. I can't get over it!"When they were shortly arm-in-arm and on their way to find Mere, Lydia found herself, while exchanging more greetings with her fellow students, wondering if she could pull off short hair like Meredith's. While her long dark locks were a trademark of sorts, she was pleasantly surprised with how much the short hair suited her friend... can always try, charm it back if it doesn't work...There was a bit of a block in the corridor up ahead, and as she and Winnie braced themselves with the other while the train made a sharp turn, Lydia couldn't stop a smug smile as she recognized the delinquents. "Aren't you relieved you don't have to pretend to play nice with those two anymore?" she asked her companion, glad yet again to have Winnie away from the badgers. Not that there was anything inherently wrong with them...besides a total lack of ambition, sense of self worth, and fashion sense... She smirked as they flounced past the younger students, and with an unhidden surprise saw Meredith within the compartment the foolish badgers had been standing at! "There you are!" Lydia exclaimed, heading into the compartment with Winnie and sitting opposite of their friend. "We've only been looking for you everywhere - what were they doing here?"

If a look could turn a person into ice, then the look Meredith gave to her and Doc was certanly one of them. The older girl was nothing but an annoyance, stuck in her pureblood ways. And she'd given Doc plenty of detentions. But she didn't need this compartment to herself, she had her two friends that she could go find. There was Lydia, who really was the nicest of the bunch, and Bronwyn, who Hestia was incredibly glad she wouldn't have to hang out with anymore. How Eddie had dated the girl for so long...
She met Doc's look and gave him a roll of her eyes, following suit as he exited the compartment. It turned out for the best, as the two other Slytherin girls she had been thinking of were making their way down the corridor. She huddled closer to Doc to let them past, not bothering to hide the frown at the way Bronwyn looked at them. Ice cold queens. She looked to Doc as he squeezed her shoulder, giving a short laugh.
"So it seems, glad we don't have to tolerate her anymore. Please tell me Eddie isn't heart broken over tis whole thing," she answered with a grin. There was no way their fellow badger would let himself get down in the dumps over that girl.

This was it, the start of her sixth year. Not really a year to be excited for, but certainly a year that would be better than the last. Eddie had been nothing but good to her, but he was too sweet. And pretending to into him had quickly turned into a headache. She had been determined though, she would make this work. But once summer hit and he started having conversations that hit a little to close to home for her, she called it off. She was sure the poor boy was just a mess about it, but they just weren't good for each other. Giving her father a hug, she climbed onto the train. Meredith would be busy with prefect duties for a bit, thank goodness, but she was dying to see Lydia and get the details on her and Charlie, Anyone who was worth anything knew about the two, and she was excited for them to be one of Hogwarts most desirable couples. Then again, there was Meredith's recent separation from that Marc fellow, and that was simply not something she wanted to handle. She spotted Lydia quickly, and the two found a compartment while Charlie went about his business. Of course Lydia already knew about the Eddie situation, so she wasn't surprised that her friend was already suggesting different guys. What was surprising, however, was the news that their third had cut all her hair off. The long blonde hair that Bronwyn so loved. "I suppose Vanderhyde will do. And he's easy on the eyes, that will certainly help." Lydia was soon standing, and Wyn took her hand as they headed off to find Meredith. She frowned as she spotted the two badgers that were friends with Eddie. Being nice to them had been the worst part of that entire relationship. "Oh believe me Lydia, I'd rather die than play nice with that muggle and blood traitor again." She followed Lydia into the compartment, glad to see that they had found Meredith. And for a few moments she was speechless as Lydia talked - because Meredith looked fantastic. "Oh who cares why they were here, let's talk about this new hair! It's absolutely goreous Meredith," Bronwyn said as she took a seat next to Lydia. As much as she wanted to be her normal self, Meredith just looked great.

Looking upon the two badgers was like staring into the sun, extremely painful. Their features held none of the refined beauty of purebloods, the mere sight of them was burning her eyes. Really how had Winnie ever spent any extended amount of time with these people? Morons, the lot of them. Meredith was glad that little faze of her roommates was over. And she did sincerely hope it was just a faze. Bronwyn was a lot of things, lowly was not one of them. As she often boasted she was from a family from the Sacred 28. However, the idiots may have had a little more intelligence than she ever gave them credit for. Jones had the mind to not say another word to her and Dearborn had the sense to use her full name. Then they surprised her even more with their intelligence by actually leaving. For a moment it had seemed the two Hufflepuffs were either going to try convincing her to vacate the compartment or staying just to annoy her. It seemed she was as intimidating as ever –or their brains were actually on par with second years, which is more than she had ever observed of them- and with only a little venom they were departing her spectacular company . “I’ll have a much better trip without you two.” She managed to shoot out before they disappeared altogether. Meredith rolled her eyes toward the ceiling, glad to have dodged that bludger. A whole trip with those two? No, that would have been the worst start to sixth year and this year needed to be top notch. After Marc… Meredith pulled out her letter again, and again she couldn’t have the privacy to read it. She had yet more visitors. The pair that entered this time, however, was far more endearing to her than the first two hooligans that dared disturb her. She smiled at Lydia, her very best friend, and then at Bronwyn. Meredith would never admit it to her fellow blonde but she had missed the girl. The new sixth year was also oddly pleased by the compliment. “Thank you Wyn, I rather love it.” She said tossing her locks around a bit with a careless hand and thinking that it would have been nice to have their friendly rivalry to take her mind off of the catastrophe of her failed engagement. Lydia was cajoling, sure, but she was also on the arm of Charles Selwyn. Metaphorically and physically. It was hard for Meredith to deal with all the raging emotions associated with her break-up and her intense jealousy at her best friend’s good fortune. Why couldn’t she be more charismatic like Lydia? Marc would not have abandoned her, she was positive of it. With an almighty effort, Meredith pulled herself out of her sudden melancholy by focusing on her earlier annoyance. “Bah! Those two filthy ingrates came in my compartment, and wanted me to leave! Can you believe the nerve of them? I am so glad you are done with them Wyn, they are so not worthy.”

"Oh, it certainly will - consider it done," Lydia said smugly, tucking that little bite of knowledge of her friend's approval of Ethan's looks away to put to good use later. Perhaps she could even sneak off to find Ethan before they got to Hogwarts, get him thinking about Bronwyn properly before he had time to think about anyone else. He'd been so noncommittal after the whole mess with the Meadowes girl, not that she could blame him because of the disaster that had been, but her Winnie was delightful once one truly got to know her! The girl let out a laugh at her companion's agreeing about the badgers, giving the other's arm a light squeeze at the exaggeration as they entered Meredith's compartment. She gave said companion a brief raise of a brow at being brushed off so, but was nevertheless glad to see Mere embracing her new look. She did look gorgeous, as Winnie said, and she looked lighter - she was being playful, for Circe's sake! While breaking off an engagement in their world was terribly serious business, maybe it really was something happening for the best for their friend. Lydia played with her earrings as Mere spoke, annoyed as she should be about the unwanted intrusions, and nodded in earnest agreement at her end. Excitedly leaning forward, she lightly grasped their third's knee. "They are the problems of this world, honestly. But don't you worry about them anymore - I'm dedicated to working on finding Winnie company that is much worthier - don't you think she and Ethan would go so well together?" The girl was supremely proud of herself for this plot, and couldn't see it going poorly. Ethan was an old friend and Natalie adored her - how could he say no to her help? And why would he? Bronwyn was from a respected family, she was a beauty, and sharp as a tack - Ethan could meet his match in her... However it went - it would at least show Bronwyn what she was deserving of, and keep her from scraping at the bottom of the pureblood barrel.

Lydia offered her some reassurance regarding Ethan, and she gave a smile she didn’t entirely feel. The Vanderhyde were fine enough, she supposed. But after spending such a long amount of time with Eddie – long in her book, at least – she wasn’t looking forward to more pretending. And considering the disaster of a time he’d had with that Gryffindor, she’d have to play the part perfectly. That would be simple enough, assuming he kept any wild ideas he might decided to come up with about her sexual preference in his head. And just because she was elated when Meredith accepted her compliment without a remark back didn’t mean anything. They were friends, in a strange sort of way. And Meredith needed to be cheered up, that was simply the way things were at the moment. Before long they could return to hating each other, in only the way they could. She gave a roll of her eyes, “I want to say I can’t believe it, but they’re really quite annoying. Trust me, it was a lapse in judgement on my part and it’s not happening again.” She intended to stay as far away from the Hufflepuffs as possible, for the sake of her sanity. Lydia moved the conversation on, and Wyn allowed herself a laugh at Lydia’s words, “Assuming he’s still any good after that Gryffindor girl. That one you used to be friends with, Meredith, what’s her name? Meadowes?”

“Oh thank Merlin!” Meredith exclaimed, momentarily throwing her hands in the air in praise to whatever Gods had cured Bronwyn of her affliction. Because Eddie Brown and his den of badgers was certainly an ailment. She had been prepared to put aside all her reservations -he was a pureblood after all, so that counted, she guessed- if it was what Winnie wanted; at the insistence of Lydia, of course. So, naturally, she was eternally grateful that her roommate had decided not to continue on with such a relationship. A lapse in judgment, indeed.
Lydia drew her attention away from the Hufflepuffs and Meredith smiled a little. Ethan was an intelligent one, thankfully, and they had spent some time together studying for one subject or another. And he was very charming. At least, that's what Marc had said to her one day. 'He is too charming.' he had commented, glancing at Ethan as he sat near them in an armchair. 'Don't you agree?' Meredith remembered grinning at him from across the chessboard, and saying slyly. “I hadn't noticed, actually. I was a bit preoccupied with your charm.”... Anyway, presumably Ethan would make an acceptable match for Bronwyn, who was at least one of those things. She thought it could be good pair up, that was...until the girl herself spoke up.
“Dorcas Meadows you mean?” Meredith asked, a dangerous note in her voice. What other ex-friend named Meadows would she be talking about? Meredith pursed her lips, giving consideration to this new factor. But it was hard, thinking about Doe Meadows. Somewhere within her, her heart remembered the beat of the other girls like a favorite tune. Just as it remembered Marc's. Meredith pushed that down, focusing instead on Ethan. “Perhaps,” she said after careful mentation. “Meadows is to Vanderhyde, what Brown is to you Winnie. A poor error in judgment.” She paused, giving a decisive nod. “I concur, Ethan would be a fine match, I believe. What is your plan Lydia?”

If nothing else, at least the three of them could be on the same page now about Bronwyn's relationship with the Hufflepuff - an attempt to pursue a proper relationship that, sadly, did not work. Even Meredith and Marc, a couple she truly had believed would succeed, had had to part. Not all could be as lucky as she and Charlie! There had been many times where she'd felt sorely - and unfamiliarly - unlucky, given his temper, but over time she'd learned to coax him back to center...They worked, for however aggravating it could sometimes be to be latched to him. The warm summer air in their compartment, however, was abruptly stifling, bringing her out of thoughts of her own relationship. The brunette shot Winnie a sharp look at bringing up Meredith's prior friend in such a cavalier way. It's not like the girl soiled him for any future relationships, she thought harshly, but even if she had - we don't speak of her! In their circles, knowing which topics to be silent about was a craft one had to carefully hone in order to stay in everyone's good graces. It was something Lydia did her very best to be aware of, wherever she was, and perhaps it was just a summer mostly apart that was encouraging Bronwyn to speak so. She put on a careful smile, though, as Meredith smoothed over their third's words with grace. "I wholeheartedly agree, Mere," she encouraged, proud of her friend for not getting riled by mention of Meadowes. "But short of locking them in a compartment together for the duration of the ride..." Lydia gave a sweet-as-sugar-quill smile, and would've pressed the jest of an idea if she didn't feel Ethan would be irked with her for doing so. There was a delicacy to being on the in-the-know side of things in a situation like this, and she wasn't about to mess up this opportunity for her friends by rushing them along! Baby steps, baby steps. "Let me think - To my knowledge, he's not seeing anyone - took a break after things with the Abbott girl failed last winter, and I don't think his father's figured out next step's yet. This could be the perfect opening, Winnie!" She turned excitedly to her friend, brushing the other's fine, soft hair behind her shoulder as she went on. "I don't want it to seem like he's floundering in matters of the heart, dear," Lydia assured gently, "but you know how it is! When something's not going to work, it's not going to work, and you can either move forward or let yourself be defined by it. He's obviously one to move forward, and maybe this could be just - just perfect for you both. So," she said with a trilling laugh, "I'd be more than happy to start laying the groundwork with him! What courses are you in this year? I can find out his schedule, no problem, and we can go from there."

Perhaps bringing up Dorcas hadn't been the best idea, given the look shot to her by Lydia. She knew the girl was a sensitive subject but Ethan had dated her and it was a fair point to bring up. The girl had a good background, at least blood wise. And obviously at some point had been a decent sort of person, to have maintained a friendship with Meredith for song long. But the girl was a lost cause now, the girl didn't even know her father was alive as far as Winnie knew. But maybe Meredith was right, perhaps Dorcas was simply a lapse in judgement on Ethan's part. She turned to look at Lydia, interested to hear the plan. But Lydia was touching her and Bronwyn felt her insides squirming. No, focus on Ethan. Lydia is right, this is the perfect opening. With it being their sixth year, there was a good chance that they would have different core class times. Thankfully, if they ended up in some of the same electives and extra classes, that would give them time together. She had hoped for a lighter year, but there were so many muggle related classes she simply could not be caught dead taking. "Well, we will have to see what days I get for our core classes. My electives are the same as last year. Arthimancy, Divination, and Ancient Runes. But I've got Magical Theory, Orchestra, Music, and Xylomancy this year." She was thrilled to be able to finally be involved in music at school, after five years of being stuck in classes she hated.

Cocking her head to the side, Meredith listened with appropriate interest as Lydia went on about her ideas for getting Wyn and Ethan together. The first she gave a smile: "I doubt Vanderhyde would appreciate that." She said, thinking that being tricked or forced into something was in none of their nature's and was generally a bad idea. But she knew Lydia was jesting and was positive the other knew she was aware of it. The last of her best friends words, though, were valid and Meredith nodded along with them, immediately pulling up what she knew of their housemate's classes and relationship status.
Other people's love lives was not a particular interest of hers, especially given her own abysmal one, but she felt it pertinent to know anyway. Knowledge was power and Meredith liked having as much power as possible. "I believe he is available so far this year." She said, hoping that nothing had happened over the last month or so that she didn't know about. "To my knowledge." she added for good measure. How foolish would she look if they showed up to Hogwarts and Ethan had a girl on his arm? But Lydia seemed to be of the same mind so the blonde didn't let it bother her too much.
"As for his classes," she said more confidently, sitting up a little straighter and crossing one leg over the other. "Against my expert advice, he will be taking Divination. A completely useless subject I say but to each their own idiocy or however that saying goes. So, you two will have that together as well as Xylomancy. He is also taking Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, and Magical Theory." She went on, ticking classes off her finger as she looked between her two friends to make sure they were keeping up. "I'll be there for those three, to keep an eye on things if you want Lydia." Not that she was the ideal person to be keeping an eye on a budding relationship. She glanced down at her journal, Marc's letter was peeking out from the top, beckoning her. Meredith looked out the window quickly to stem the sudden well of tears, pushing on resolutely with a thick swallow. "There's his schedule. You and he will have plenty of classes already Wyn, what do you suggest we do next Lydia? Maybe a makeover for Bronwyn here?"
