Bronwyn hated when Meredith was right - but Meredith was right. There was something about their Headmaster that their father’s wouldn’t mention, and they both knew it it had something to do with Dark Lord. She gave a long sigh, nodding to Meredith. “He’s a crazy old man - but I do suppose you are right. I’d rather deal with him.” She did her best to ignore Lydia angrily flipping the pages in her magazine, laying back on her bed as she studied Meredith. It seemed the other blonde was still set on her plans though, and Winnie grinned at her as she made a decision. The station it would be then, and they would have time before the end of the year to come up with something plausibile. While Severus wasn’t the best option for help - he was at least sympathetic to the cause. After all, it had only been a year ago that he called the red-head in question a Mudblood to her face. The sudden arrival of Cordelia into their dorm was a welcome sight for Winnie, and she laughed as the girl she was totally in love with her best friend proceeded to make herself comfortable across her. She loved any affection from Corry, this year without Rabastan around taking all of Corey’s time far better than the previous year. “We’re going to murder Evans, and Lydia disagrees. But the mudblood is sure to get Head Girl next year and we can’t have that,” she filled their fourth in, hands finding Cordelia’s hair to play with. Wyn smirked at Cordelia’s next - laughing as she considered the possibility before she looked back to Meredith. “What about Head Boy? You know Dumbledore is probably aiming for Lupin to be in the position. Have Wilkes or Vanderhyde said anything about it?”

Suppressing a glare as Cordelia entered the common room, calling Lydia names and draping herself across Bronwyn, Meredith gave the other girl a curt nod in greeting. Usually, she would have something to say about anyone calling her best friend outside of her given name but she was currently angry at Lydia Avery so she had to resist that urge and suppress the daggers she wanted to send Goyles way. The blonde also didn't like how touchy Wyn and Cory were, especially while being in such close proximity to her person, but she stomped down on any comments about that topic too. These two, for better or worse, were her allies now and that meant she had to deal with being nice for the time being.
She listened in silence as Winnie retold their evening conversation to their forth, her mind working on possible plans and outcomes for her venture, trying to ignore how loud Lydia was being. For someone saying nothing at all, she was surely drawing enough attention to herself. Meredith spared her only a quick, annoyed glance and wished on her the worst of papercuts. In a flash though, Cordelia had made her laugh and it was easy to pretend Lydia was far far away. "Please, spare me the image." she said with a chuckle.
At Winnie's last Meredith turned to her, huffing out a breath and raising her brows. "And why should I care about the Head Boy position?" she asked with a little snip to her voice, her amusing of only moments before disappearing. It was just that the thought of not only Lily Evans but also Remus Lupin at the helm gave her an instant headache. She sighed and closed her eyes, rubbing at her temples. "No Winnie, neither have said anything to me. Though I don't know what Ethan would have to do with it." she said in a much gentler voice, offering her roommate a little bit of a smile. "Maybe I should speak to Wilkes though. See what he knows, put him on his guard. Now that's two people I'll need to meet with. Already Evans is more work than she's worth."

Oh good. You're here to help feed into their frenzy.Corry made an entrance as she was prone to do, and Lydia kept her mouth stubbornly shut. Even with the insult. You are an inch - two at most - taller than me. What right do you have to call me a munchkin? Her dark eyes flitted to Meredith to see how the girl took the other's words, and counted herself disappointed. More firsts today, then. You refuse to listen to me, and now you allow someone to insult me. Fantastic. Lydia knew that this would all blow over. She did. None of the girls was truly mad enough to allow the murder of Lily Evans to occur. Things among them would go back to normal. But the night was already under her skin and she returned her "attention" to the magazine as Winnie brought Cordelia up to speed. Yes. You’re all here scheming things that could put you in Azkaban and I’m the problem. But the pair was practically canoodling, she could see from her periphery, and Lydia hoped that their proximity would prove useful and distract them both from furthering Meredith’s ideas. You’d have much more fun tonight with just the two of you, hmm? Lydia Avery knew that violence had its place. Her father, her brother, her betrothed - they belonged to that world of danger and darkness, using shows of power in its purest form to further the Dark Lord's ideals. But they had a leader with a vision. And as much as she loved Meredith, her dearest friend was being terribly shortsighted. Mere would come around to her way of thinking eventually, and the other girls would be pulled back to sanity with her leadership. This shortsightedness was brought to the front as Meredith refused to acknowledge Winnie's point...and after some internal deliberation, Lydia spoke up. "Winnie is right. You should care about the Head Boy position," she said quietly, nose still in the pages. "If he's not an ally, it shows you that Dumbledore's likely made up his mind and chosen Evans. But if he is someone you trust, he may be able to steer the headmaster in your direction." Without anyone in this room attempting murder and cover-up. "Ethan was called for a meeting with him the other day. He ran into Potter on his way in, and Severus on his way out. Your little list is growing. Good luck getting anything useful out of Potter." She looked up to see her friend, a chilly challenge in her eye. I could help, of course. If you admit you were wrong and come back to your senses.

Winnie didn't seem to mind that she'd chosen to drape herself across her instead of choosing a "proper" resting place. But it wasn't long before the drama she had missed was ruining her fresh calm. Cordelia rolled her eyes and wasn't subtle about it. Of course, the munchkin wasn't on board with the idea, she was hardly ever on board with anything that counted as fun. "I think we should murder whether she gets Head Girl or not." Mostly she said it to rile the little one of their group, but altogether it wasn't a horrible idea. If anything was to be counted on to restore her peace, it was Winnie's long and capable fingers playing with her hair - the only person Corry would ever allow to do such a thing, other than Rab perhaps - and she let herself bask in the moment as the other girl's talked through the possibilities. Her lips quirked as her joke about the Mudblood landed, but it made her consider the blonde Medusa more closely. Her usual groomed-to-perfection hair was slightly askew, her eyes wild with not just bloodlust, but a need to understand. She was clearly worked up...and Winnie's antics with her hair were not doing anything to calm her down. One glance confirmed that she was upset by it, and that was all it took for Corry to right herself and saunter over to Lydia's bed. Cordelia didn't enjoy being away from the girl she was in love with had strong feelings for, but she'd rather move than suffer Meredith's wrath. She leaned in and brushed some hair out of Lydia's eyes, knowing how much it would bother her to have any help while she was in this mood, "Only a fool would believe that Potter was in the running - the old man is moronic but he wouldn't choose someone who hadn't been a Prefect before." Cordelia wanted to point out the stupidity of suggesting that either Ethan or Severus also had a chance. For as helpful as they were in the halls of Hogwarts, they were not leaders. Not like Meredith was. "I think it's far more likely that Meredith gets paired up with Lupin. A Slytherin and Gryffindor match up like a few years ago - don't you remember how much the Heads hated each other? It will be like that."
