"What is it they're saying about you, old boy?"
"They say I'm odd, Dad. A blood-traitor. Mud- muggle lover...like you."
"It's not entirely a bad thing to be compared to me, is it?"
"You know that's not what I'm on about - "
"Does it bother you? Enough for you to stop asking questions? Enough for you to stop sticking up for those who need it?"
"Well, no - "
"Then let them say what they'll say! You've got nothing if you haven't got your integrity, Arthur. Remember that."

The world is too full of interesting things to limit yourself to only learning about some of it.
Thankfully, the house that Arthur Weasley grew up in had the same view.
He was curious to learn why he and his brothers only knew the Weasley side of their family, why - on the very rare occasion - that when they interacted with his mother's old family they were so unpleasant. Why they used strange names to describe his family, why they were incredibly...rude. His parents did the best to explain the differences in views of the world, explanations becoming more involved as the boy grew up. His mother was glad to take him and the other boys to muggle thrift shops in their community, letting him choose one item most times. This mechanical item - perhaps a watch or a compass, a kitchen utensil or, one amazing day, a radio - was promptly disassembled upon their returning home. And while there were sometimes shocks or scrapes, and usually he was unable to put it back together, nothing deterred the young boy from trying to learn how the item worked. Their houses was fully magical, after all - muggles were so awfully clever!
Upon entry to Hogwarts and joining his older brother in Gryffindor, Arthur's inquisitive nature was hardly stifled. He was personable to anyone who was personable to him, seeking out muggleborns to
Infatuation in the form of Molly Prewett came early in his Hogwarts years, and Arthur knew he wasn't the only lad eyeing the little stunner. While his fellow redhead had always seemed interested in humoring his antics, when he made a move in sixth year, why, Arthur half expected to be literally stunned by her! Thankfully she was as pleased as he was that he'd "finally" said something, and their relationship took off like the muggle aeroplanes he so wished to understand. If he was being honest, Arthur understood love about as much as the mysterious aircraft, but was finding his footing with Molly in this new territory better than he likely could have managed being at the helm of that sort of machinery. Sixth year ran into seventh, and the air of the world grew heavier with talk of war...
As their seventh year came to a close, Arthur knew that things outside of Hogwarts were rapidly changing. Disappearances had begun, people were becoming more vocal in public about purity, and he knew that - while he wasn't much of a fighter - he couldn't just sit back and do nothing. He wanted to work to make the world better, in a way that he felt he could make a difference. Arthur's interest in muggles and tinkering brought his attention to the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office; the only downside was, as his dad let him know once he'd owled about it, that there were few opportunities for advancement. He could begin as an assistant and make the jump to Head - but the department was minuscule, and the pay just the same.
This would be fine if Arthur was planning on only supporting himself, but by graduation he was ready for a family of his own.
After much discussions of the realities of being low in wealth but making up for it with love, Arthur's anxiety had been mollified.
The pair eloped and moved to the country, their home
Lately, however, Arthur feels that perhaps the stresses of work and fatherhood are getting to him. There have been occasions of sleepwalking - for that must be what it is - from his desk late at night, abruptly waking in a foreign sector of London without memory of getting there. Perhaps a holiday is in order...
