"Oh my god, stop - you're Tina's little sister, aren't you? It's me, Kyra! I used to be at yours all the time, you're making me feel ancient!" Kyra squealed, emulating the excitable girls at uni from back in the day, and gave the stranger a squeeze of a hug. Doing so put her in between the beautiful young woman and the middle aged man not getting the hint, and when she gave the girl a little breathing room after the hug, the blonde quickly turned to the paunchy businessman. Her eyes, only slightly hazed by the drink, slowly traveled from his polished but out-of-date Oxfords, over his stretched pinstripe suit, and around his ruddy face. She'd been watching him since he'd taken up the stool next to the girl, having been in similar situations before, and while it was obvious from the brunette's body language that she didn't want him there...he had yet to let her enjoy her night. Girls gotta help each other out, don't we?"So, er - I'm taking your seat." She gave an apologetic smile, but the glint in her eye was anything but contrite. "I've got so much catching up to do with her, and this - " Brows high, Kyra gestured between what would never be a pair. " - isn't going to happen." She took a sip of her second martini, purchased by a fit brunette waiting for her at the pool table, eyes trained on the man's. You're leaving, not me. After a bit of a stare-down he rose, grumbling foully, and she laughed into her drink before hopping up onto the stool. "Next time you're here, hang out by the jukebox or darts or something," she advised with a grin, dropping the preppy affect as she turned to the girl. "Lurkers make themselves way too comfy at the bar."

The blonde giving her a hug was an absolute godsend and Teagan gave the girl a tight squeeze, laughing as she gave the man sitting across from her a grin. “I can’t believe it’s you! It’s been ages since I’ve seen you!” she exclaimed, thanking whatever gods existed that this girl had been looking out for her. She’d barely been in London for a week, and it was her first time leaving the flat since she’d moved. She was sure the dog was probably whining, and she’d have a complaint from a neighbor, but she was going crazy just being at home. She had a week before work started, and absolutely no friends in town. But she hadn’t expected the first person to target her in the bar to be a middle aged man who had absolutely no chance. It wasn’t the first older man to hit on her, but it didn’t make it any less creepy. She was just freshly eighteen and on her own, apparently the perfect target for his guy. But he had gotten the hint, vacating the space so the blonde could sit. “Thanks for that - and for the advice. It’s my first week here, guess you could probably tell. I’m Teagan by the way. You’re an angel, Kyra was it?”

Thankfully she wasn’t being written off as just as much of a creep as the pouting paunchy man was, seeing as the girl was returning her hug without question, and jumping onto her story with ease and eagerness. After a little more persuading, Kyra was occupying the man’s seat before it could be taken by another just as ill-suited to the pretty young thing. She gave the girl an understanding smile at the gratitude, giving a wave of her hand as she brushed it off. Before she could go into a rant about how ladies had to help other ladies, the girl got into the how’s of her getting into into the situation... "Oh, honey!" Kyra exclaimed, unabashed in her excitement. "It’s your first week in London? I have so much to teach you!" Well, her night had just gotten more interesting. What had started out as a casual date with a workmate was evolving into something of much greater importance. She gave a laugh and waved the bartender over to get this Teagan another drink. "Yes, it’s Kyra - and you’re about to have the best night ever." While the man behind the bar fixed up Teagan’s glass, Kyra rotated around on the barstool, surveying what the bar had to offer. "Do you play darts? Pool?" Later she would find a way to wingwoman for the girl if that’s what Teagan wanted, but she wasn’t about to let the young woman loose just yet. Not when she hadn’t taught her any more survival skills! The sharks would just eat a sweet girl like her up!

There was a lot that went into moving, but moving to an entirely different country? It had been one of the biggest decisions she’d ever made. Both of her parents had tried their best to get her to stay in Wales, expressing repeatedly worries that something bad would happen to her. It had taken adopting a dog to get them to calm down, and even still she was sure her mother would be calling within the next week to ask Teagan to return home. Her home country was wonderful, but London was new and exciting. It wasn’t a place with just one single pub that she frequented with her friends, but a town that seemed full of mystery. And as she had quickly learned, the worries her parents had weren’t too far from the truth. But as girls tended to do, Kyra had saved her just when she needed it the most. She laughed at the other girl’s enthusiasm, pleased to find that she was well on her way to making a new friend. Kyra was ordering up another drink, and Teagan couldn’t stop the smile on her face. Tonight wasn’t about finding a man, that was something she could do once she was more settled. But it was the perfect night to make a new friend, and so she took the drink the bartender handed her with a laugh. While neither darts or pool was one of her favorite things to do, it was part of the culture that came with drinking. “Pool is my preference, but I’m open to either,” she replied as she slipped of her barstool, grinning to Kyra as she headed to the nearest empty table. “Did you grow up in London?”

Teagan's drink arrived and Kyra turned up her glass to drain the last of hers, the bite of it sending a needed revival through her. This night out had started well, finally being able to take Leo up on a longstanding when you're single again offer, but throwing a new girlfriend into the mix made it even better. Usually the blonde wasn't keen on piling up distractions, and she'd hate for either Leo or Teagan to pick up on her need for them at the moment - but it really was a need, and with two mates with her, hopefully her mind wouldn't wander away from the lovely evening. Because her boyfriend of a year had up and left her, and her best friend had just had her third child, and gigs with the band weren't even a once-a-month thing anymore, and what did she really have to show for her twenty-five years except a well-stocked record collection and a nursery of dried up plants at home? Nope, nope, we're playing pool! None of that, none!"Fantastic!" Kyra exclaimed, taking the brunette by the hand and weaving through the bar to the pool table her date was at. "Grew up in Barking, actually, just a hop, skip, and a jump east of here," she explained on the way, chattering quickly. "But you have a fun bit of Welsh hanging on there, don't you? Don't let the city take it, yeah? It's lovely, that. What're you up to in London? I'm here with a bloke, by the way, he's a gem but we can ditch him later if we want, yeah?" She let Teagan's hand go to take up the pool cues and pass them around, making introductions as she did. No harm in a friendly match, was there? She and Teagan alternating turns, it could be great fun! "Leo, this is my new friend Teagan, she just moved into the city, and we're about to take you down - unless you'd like to give up now."

She missed nights out in Wales with her girlfriends, sneaking out of her parent’s house and going to places she was too young for, dancing all night without a care in the world. She knew tonight they would all be together, and she’d probably get a drunk phone call sometime in the wee hours of morning that she’d try to answer if she was home. She missed Simon immensely, and hoped that he was on his way to finding his Mr. Right tonight at the underground gay club. He was her other half, the one who had hyped her up to move to London on her own and go to school here. Her biggest fan, and life without him here felt empty. Sure, they had their phone calls while watching their weekly Dr. Who, and he would come and visit as soon as he could, nights out simply didn’t feel the same. It’s why she’d avoided going out for the entire week she had been here until tonight. Thankfully, Kyra was a god-send and here to save her from getting too in her head. She grinned at her new friend as they weaved through people in the bar, soaking up all the information she could. She had no idea where Barking was, but based on the description it couldn’t be too far away from London. She also had to laugh, because Kyra was right - there was some Welsh hanging on in her voice, and she personally loved it. She’d always thought a Welsh accent was something to be proud of, and she had no intention to let London take it from her. “Diolch yn fawr*,” she said with a smile, feeling like this friendship was going to span more than just this night. “I moved here for work, and for school. I hope I’m not interrupting your date, but I do appreciate you saving me.” They reached the pool table, and Teagan set her drink down and shook Leo’s hand before taking the pool cue from Kyra. “We are going to beat you Leo, so no hard feelings if you do give up now,” she teased, pulling the triangle from under the table to start arranging the balls, “My best friend refuses to play pool against me for money.” It was simple maths to be good at pool, and maths was one of the things she had always been good at without practice. “What is Barking like, Kyra? Was it fun to grow up so close to London?”* Thank you very much
