open: bridget, bennett, alecto, + ... (customers, DEs) (morgan later)
"They're all different, see?" Bridget grinned, letting one fluorescent Screaming Yo-yo loose from one hand, quickly followed by one from the other. They bounded up and down on their strings as she flicked her wrists, the first wailing like a banshee and the second almost yodeling. She wound the pair of demos up and replaced them on their shelf, encouraging the wide-eyed young patron to try a few on her own before returning to her mosey towards the till to trade off with her brother. It was packed at Zonko's, as it always was on Hogwarts visit days, and while their shop was all for good trouble, Bee kept her eyes out for bad trouble. The kids never made the same mistake twice - try sneaking out with a Fanged Frisbee down your jumper, instant regret, that's why you've got to use the Handler's Glove - but there was always one who thought they were the trickiest of the tricky and set out to prove it.
More often, thankfully, were their repeat customers. The ones who were really trying to pull off something clever, the ones who felt out if they could trust her and Benny or not (they could) and let them in on their schemes, the ones who came back to replenish this or that. That had been one of the most surprising and rewarding elements of the past almost year, the monthly little check-in's, and Bridget was looking forward to seeing some familiar guilty grins today. These days were long, the busiest of the month by far, and she knew regardless that she and her housemates would be up to all hours swapping new stories, no matter how tired they were. Hopefully Mo would be free to join them - Auror training was taxing, to say the least, and unpredictable - and they could have Sunday to themselves...maybe Greta would come over with a new recipe for brunch...
She unlocked the half-door and slid behind the counter, sunflower skirt swinging around her heels as she bumped Ben's hip with her own. "Do we still have - yes, perfect," Bridget smiled, popping a few Peppermint Toads out of their box and into her mouth. Snacks were a necessity, here and everywhere, and they always tried to have something stowed away. "How're you doing, feel like a change up?"
