Evan leaned against the doorframe with a practiced air of casualness, shifting to adjust his shirt and then repositioning himself in casual lean once more before finally rapping his knuckles on the door. He wasn’t unexpected, but he hoped to catch a glimpse of delighted surprise in Violet’s eye with his early arrival. They had plans to meet up whenever he was home from school and he’d heavily suggested at their last meeting that he didn’t need to bother spending Easter holiday at the castle studying as he was naturally gifted in the subjects that mattered. While his classmates were wiling away the hours studying, or the few others who had decided to go home for the short holiday spent time with their families, Evan had more enjoyable plans for the break. Dora had been the first to show off her apartment, followed by a few friends who were living with flatmates to help with the rent. Violet’s place was not only her own, but it was impossibly nicer than Dora’s tiny cupboard of a thing, if only for the lack of whoring that took place there. Vi’s place was small, but as a teen still living at home himself, he was envious of the older witch’s freedom. He had no qualms about bringing Vi back to his parents’ house, so long as they were out or otherwise too occupied to take notice, but there was definitely something to be said for the privacy that came with owning your own flat. Perhaps once his father made good on his proposal to “hire” Evan on at his company upon graduation in a few months’ time, Evan would follow suit and fly from his own familial nest. But then who would do your washing? Well, perhaps he’d stay put for a bit longer at least. The door opened and Evan gave his best smoldering look. "Hello, gorgeous."

There was no better way to start a Saturday than drinks for brunch with some friends from the Ministry, and Violet was already feeling good as she made her way back to her flat. She had drunk far more than she had eaten, but this week had called for it. Her ever-incompetent boss, Oscar Vance, had pulled her from the Accidental Magic Reversal squad team for the week. He had given her a vague reason for it, something about issues with the budget and paperwork needing to be completed. It was a load of crock, and they both knew it. It was obvious that Vance didn’t like her very much, even though Violet knew she was quite an easy person to like if you tried. But she shook up the dynamics of his team, and she was better at wandwork than any of them that had been on the force a while. She had been on the team almost two years now, and she deserved a raise - and to still work in Accidental Magic. Kicking her shoes off, she closed the door behind her and went straight to the kitchen, a bottle of wine with her name on it cooling in the fridge. She loved her flat because it was hers and was larger than Dora’s, but sometimes living amongst muggles could be irritating. To have to remember to do things like a muggle when they were around was exhausting. She wanted to apparate into her apartment, not walk up the stairs and use a key to let herself in. Sometimes she did apparate, consequences be damned, and most of her neighbors believed the loud popping noises were from a car backfiring on the street below. She had only just opened the bottle with her wand when someone was knocking on her door. She pocketed her wand, taking it with her while she went to look through the peephole. It required her to stand on her tiptoes, but she was soon back on the soles of her feet and opening the door with a grin. “And hello handsome,” she greeted Evan, stepping back to allow him into her flat. She closed the door behind him, before leaning up to give him a kiss. Whatever this was between them had been fun, the fling starting the night of Dora’s housewarming party. It wasn’t official, and she wouldn’t call Evan her boyfriend or anything of the sort, but she was starting to see what other girls saw in him besides his good looks. He could be less of an arse than he usually was - if he wanted to be. She found that she found his rude tendencies actually weren’t terrible once you get used to them. “I was just about to open a bottle of red, but I do believe this nice surprise calls for some whiskey. Want some?” she asked as she headed back toward her kitchen.

Delighted surprise, exactly as he had predicted. Violet opened the door further to give him entry, and when she leaned in to kiss him Evan wrapped an arm around her dainty waist. Her kiss was not yet familiar enough to bore him. He’d gone home with her from Dora’s housewarming over the Christmas break, and she’d been in Hogsmeade during the most recent student visit. It wasn’t as if he wasn’t pursuing other options while he was at school, but thus far Vi was keeping his attention well enough that nothing was actively happening between him any other witch or wizard. There was no classification for their arrangement yet, either, and he was fine to keep it that way so long as no one else came sniffing around her. He followed her further into the apartment. He didn’t fully know his way around just yet, which door led to the bedroom and which to the toilet would likely trip him up, but the layout was simple enough he couldn’t possibly get lost. Evan grinned, allowing his hand to move from Violet’s waist to her bum as he answered her question. “Whiskey sounds great, love. Ta.” People who drank wine were baffling to him. It tasted how he assumed it would taste to lick the rough side of a tree, especially the red wines, and he always felt he needed a glass of water with how dry his throat felt after swallowing the liquid. How was it wet and dry at the same time? And did people really and truly enjoy it, or were they all putting on a farce to keep up with the others? To each their own, he assumed, and if it were the only option he would of course avoid turning it down, but as she had more on offer tonight he felt unbothered by the sight of the already opened wine bottle. “I hope I’m not spoiling any plans, tonight.”
