This night out was going to be the best night out she’d had in a while, and probably the only night out she would have for a while. Babies were a lot of work, which they made up for by also being so incredibly cute. And Phoebe Bones was absolutely proud to be a mother, taking Grayson everywhere she possibly could to show him off. But a night out with her husband and their best friends? This wasn’t something simple like going to a movie, no, this was about Halloween! Costumes and celebrating – and most of all living her life like she wasn’t a young stay at home mom for just one night. Honestly, she had the best brother-in-law ever. He was in his strange wizard medical training, and often busy. But he’d volunteered to watch Grayson so that they could get a proper night out, and she would never be able to thank him enough. Because while either one of their parents would willingly watch Grayson, they didn’t really go out the way she did, and she would die before she would let her mother see in Halloween costume. Plus Roderick was a wizard, and a doctor sort of wizard at that, which helped a lot with her fears about anything happening to Grayson. Because – heaven forbid anything did – at least Roderick would be able to handle it while he tried to get in contact with them. And while all of that was fine and dandy, she’d still gotten behind with feeding Grayson and was now attempting to finish her makeup in the dark car as they headed to the club. Luckily the drive ended up being a quick one, and they weren’t too late to meet Kyra and Fabian. The air had cooled down, and Phoebe frowned as she walked hand in hand with Ed down the sidewalk, as they’d already bickered over the fact she was going to be cold and want a jacket. She couldn’t let him know he was the winner of that topic, she’d just have to suck it up. The line to get in was fairly short, and she had to admit she was flattered when they had checked her identification at the door. Finding Kyra was easy work, the two had gone costume shopping together of course. She hadn’t known, however, that her and Fabian were going to be matching, which was sickeningly cute and also another sign that the two were not just friends and clearly there was hanky-lanky happening. Fabian was a good man and Kyra deserved him, not to mention how much it killed her not to be able to tell her best friend that magic was real. ”I hope you are ready to vomit at my place tonight hot stuff – just preferably in the toilet this time?”

All right, so good ol’ Roddy may be ahead in godparent points - if anyone was keeping track - but as god mother wasn’t it also Kyra’s role to, y’know, help out…the mother? A mum who sorely deserved a night out on the town. Gray was nearly five months old, and while Kyra loved the little nugget, it was about time for everybody to be out without him. She wanted to get her best friend drunk, and dancing, and having the laughs they'd had so much more before the baby came along. (Whenever he napped, the house turned into a place one had to quite literally tip-toe around to keep from waking him - big belly laughs were a whispered no-no.) She'd been utterly relieved that it hadn't been much of a struggle to convince the new parents to come out with her and Fabian for Halloween, and in knocking back their first shot of the night as Marilyn Monroe and one of her dear Mr. Kennedy's ( "You haven't slipped anything in here, have you, Mr. Kennedy?"), Kyra was so ready for the night's activities. While she knew she wasn't as much of a knock-out as the actress had been, she knew she was still a knock-out - the deceptively sweet little dress, legs going for miles with the white pumps she had on, bright red lips and the properly placed beauty mark - and was drawing the affirming looks a good Marilyn impersonator should. And Fabian was wearing his suit, garnering the same sorts of looks she was, and she gladly took any opportunity to "straighten" his American flag pin or "tighten" his tie, both for the benefit of their couples costumes and her own purposes. It was good to have such a fit date on a fun night like this, and since the goal had been to get Phoebe and Ed out of the house, it'd made sense for her and Fabian to approach the situation together. She got in touch with Phoebe, he took a turn with Ed; Kyra knew it'd be one of the Bones' greatest achievements to "finally" get the pair of them "officially" together, and this was another opportunity to try and do that. Too tempting for their married friends to resist. She burst into an excited smile as she saw Phoebe and Ed come in, waving them over in a properly demure Monroe fashion. The Bones' looked like something out of an old Hollywood movie, and she loved it. At Phoebe's greeting she let out a carefree laugh, fixing her bright eyes on her best friend. "You know I can't take responsibility for anything Drunk Kyra does later," she said as if it was obvious, sending a quick smirk back at her date. "But look at you - give me a spin, c'mon." Opportunities to embarrass her friend - as she may have been, gesturing for a twirl - had been few and far between lately and now was time to make up for it. And Phoebe looked amazing, she should know it! Arm in arm shortly after, she turned her friend towards the bar. "Let's get you something as good as you look, hmm?"

When Phoebe came home to show off a sparkling curve-hugging party dress after shopping with Kyra, complaining was the furthest thing from Edgar’s mind. After his wife gave him some explanation of theme, he transferred their son from his arms to hers (Gray finding no shortage of sparkles to entertain himself with), Transfigured a suit of his to mimic that of last year’s film star’s, and the pair was ready to go out on Halloween in prime 1920's style. The invitations from their best friends hadn't left much wiggle room - they were much less "invitations" or "requests" than "demands," really - and thankfully Roderick was game to step up and babysit. The new parents had hardly left Grayson alone with anyone, but tonight Ed was trusting his little brother with his life. If anything happened to Gray on the young man's watch, after all, Phoebe would first go for her brother-in-law's jugular, and then her husband's for convincing her it was a good idea to head out with friends after taking Gray around the block. (A miniature Nick Carraway in the flesh, wasn't he?) ...Ed had faith in his brother, though. It was still incredibly odd to leave Grayson with Roddy, but Ed knew it would do him and Pheebs a lot of good. He was a joy, but constantly being "on" for either the Order or for his family, it was wearing on his usually inexhaustible energy. Ed needed a night out with friends and his wife, to forget about the war, to forget about responsibilities - it was time to go out and drink like the twenty-two-year-old he was. However, there was a bit of a catch to that. With Kyra coming with them, and there hadn't been a way around that, he couldn't just Apparate Phoebe and himself to the club. Somebody would need to drive back, but...they'd figure that out later. "You're positive you don't want my coat?" Ed asked after finding a spot to park, which was not easy on an evening when their contemporaries began drinking hours ago and felt that anywhere was a fine place to cross the street. For as gorgeous as his wife looked tonight, it was the tail end of October, in London - she was going to freeze her arse off in just that dress. But she was as gorgeous as she was stubborn, and promptly refused to take his suit coat. Against his better judgement - wouldn't do for her to get sick - Ed refrained from prompting any more about it, taking her hand and getting in the queue with her. He grinned down at her as they were asked for identification - he felt much older than he was, with having a place in the war, a family and home of his own - and they were in.
The music was loud, the lights were low, the costumes were outrageous, and Ed was ready to have a drink in his free hand. He looked above most of the crowd, smoothing back his already in-character smooth hair, and gave Fabian a grin on sight. He and Phoebe wove their way towards their friends, and as the women greeted each other, he eyed his mate - totally oblivious as to who he was dressed as. "G'evening, old sport," Edgar drawled out in his best old timey American impersonation, arm around him in a moment as he lowered his voice. "Who in the name of Merlin are you supposed to be? Gid joining us?"

Today was going to be brilliant. He enjoyed going out with Kyra, regardless of the situation, but tonight they were reuniting the old gang. The four of them, back together at a bar like nothing had ever changed. Of course, their lives had all changed within the past few months. Phoebe and Edgar were married now (about time, really) and they had a kid. Every time he saw Gray it blew his mind a little more, than one of his best friends was a father already. Sure, he’d been an uncle for a while now since his sister and Arthur had started having kids. But it was different for someone that same age as him to have an infant. It had certainly changed the amount of time they all spent together, because now there was a fifth human for them to take into consideration. Tonight - however - was simply going to be for the four of them. Living it up like there was no tomorrow. It was going to be grand. Knocking back his first shot of the evening, he couldn’t stop the grin that followed as he looked at Kyra. She’d had no problem convincing him of this costume idea, and he very much approved of the dress she was wearing. While American politics were not his strong suit by any means, he’d been able to dig enough info to convincingly pull this off. At least, that was what he was hoping. In a British pub, he supposed it didn’t matter too much, as he doubted anyone was going to be quizzing him. Not on Halloween, it was the night for everyone to have fun and not care about what was going on in the real world. Kyra’s attention was drawn away from him, and he followed her gaze to see their friends had arrived. ”Mate, I’m the President obviously. Look, I’ve even got this American Flag pin,” Fabian replied with a grin, pointing to it proudly. He’d had to use magic to transfigure it, but he felt that he had done a good job. ”Just call me President Kennedy. I’m not sure about Gid, he didn’t like my suggestion that he could be my bodyguard as a costume.” Fabian had bought his brother would make a perfect secret service agent, because clearly they both couldn’t be the President. But his brother hadn’t found the whole concept as amusing. ”You two look quite charming tonight, glad for the break from Gray?”

It was easy enough to act like she wasn’t having a hard time leaving Grayson with Roderick. As much faith and trust as she had in her brother-in-law, this was her baby. She practically spent every second of her days with him, between feeding and eating - and as much as she knew not to it was just so sweet to have him nap on her - she hardly put him down. There would have to be a phone at the bar, and they could call Roderick just to check... No, she needed the just let herself enjoy this night out. And Kyra was going to make sure of it, that was the point of this whole night. Phoebe laughed as she gave a spin for her best friend, feeling quite proud of the fact she’d lost the weight she’d put on from having a baby (and eating as much ice cream as she could get her hands on). “We are getting shots in before Edgar notices,” said loudly with a wink to her husband, laughing as they pushed their way up to the bar. “Just no tequila, I want to be able to function after tonight.”

Leaving Fabian to defend his costume was hilarious to her, and she hoped that Edgar would pick up on the fun of it all! The bloke seemed like a fish out of water as he'd come in, had fatherhood and work really turned him into a dud? Where was the Edgar Bones who could drink her under the table? She and Fabs would bring that Ed back to life tonight, just as Phoebe was ready to be herself again. Kyra laughed with her at the other beauty's declaration, very much willing and able to see her request through. While the bar was crowded, she slipped into the first open space she saw, doing what she could to seem utterly unruffled by the crowd and the noise, just like she knew her inspiration would. "Hey there, sweetheart," Kyra crooned in her best Hollywood voice, hoping that even if her American accent was hardly on point, that her sweet smile and revealing bodice would do the trick of getting them drinks quickly. She leaned her elbows on the bar, keeping eye contact with the young barman, amusing herself with smirks as she caught his gaze dropping. "Pair of shots for me and my friend here - surprise us, won't you? Just be a dear and hold the tequila." Satisfied that he would come up with something fun for them, Kyra grinned at her best friend, giving her another squeeze as she dropped the Marilyn act. "I'm so glad you're here, this is just going to be brilliant! I say we take these and hit the dance floor, and I am not taking no for an answer tonight. You are here, and you look amazing."(ooc: there is literally a wikihow for everything)

"Oh, obviously," Ed laughed, leaning in to inspect the pin his mate so proudly pointed out. He straightened it and grinned, listening to Fabian go on. While he couldn’t blame Gid for not jumping on the bandwagon with the costume idea, Ed did hope that their third would show up tonight. To his knowledge, the bloke was single, meaning that he and Fabs could use their true calling tonight as wingmen. He put a hand to his heart at the mention of their son, exchanging a look with Phoebe. It was strange to be out without the baby; they had both had to adapt to parenthood so quickly in these past few months, and Ed was loving it, but knowing that Gray wasn’t with Phoebe or himself? He’ll be fine. "Roderick is a born pro," he asserted, shooting his wife a look of encouragement. "It’s like I’ve forgotten what to do with my arms, though. Not at work, not with the baby?" After a bit of floundering, his hands found the pockets of his slacks, and his brows rose high as Phoebe slyly slipped away. "Too late - I noticed, babe!" Ed called after his wife, watching in amusement as the women immediately traded their fine company for that of the bar’s. Guess I'm driving home, he thought, fairly resigned to the idea. Phoebe deserved the freedom that this night promised; while he wouldn't call his work a "break," he acknowledged that he wasn't fully on parent-duty in the way that she was. And so Ed adjusted his pristine white bow-tie, chuckling after them before turning to his best mate. While he eyed the bloke with humor, there was a slight wariness to his look as he spoke. In recent years, their nights out had involved many fun and hardly-remembered times. But there had also been - er - surprises along the way. So really...tonight could turn into anything with these schemers. But he and Pheebs couldn’t be out of commission completely, not when they had Gray to care for once they got home… "So - Marilyn’s getting my wife drunk," he stated with a wave towards the bar, where the godmother of his child was overtly using her assets to...try and get something free for her and Phoebe? Merlin’s beard. "What’s your job tonight?"

“Bodyguard. Ha. Smart arse.” Gideon said to himself as he not-so-patient stood on the sidewalk waiting to get into the club, the queue was moving too slowly for his liking and he was sure everyone was already inside. They had been better at picking costumes, it did help that his brothers had women in their lives to help plan these sorts of things. He had to drum up a decent get-up on his own, with no help from Fabian. “Bodyguard,” he scoffed again, remembering his twin’s suggestion in a less than fond light. “I am a boss.” he declared, rapping his cane sharply on the stone. The wand hidden within less out a little spark and Gideon glanced around fervently. Just behind him was a handful of girls in various shades of glimmer and they were staring at him but he didn’t think it was because of his little slip-up. By the looked on their faces and the giggles shared, they were laughing at him. He waved awkwardly and faced front again, making a mental note to stop talking to himself, especially in public. By the time he made it inside, his fingers were frozen -should have gone for the fur lines gloves- and he had broken his no talking to himself rule two more times. Shaking his head at his own self-destruction he made his way toward the site of Fabian, which he had spotted almost at once, he always would. A perk, and a curse. Sometimes he didn’t want to know exactly where Fab was, or what he was doing, but right now, it was a good thing. He approached with his usual smile, arms out to show off his outfit. He was quite proud of it. Gideon arranged his face into a more serious expression when he was standing before Fab and Ed, slipping into his chosen character. “Gentleman.” he said, pulling a cigar from his vest pocket and popping it into his mouth. “Where have your dames run off to?” Gideon pulled a face, removing the offending stogey from his mouth, and slipped back into his normal voice, he was pants at an American accent anyway. “This thing is disgusting.”
