One shot of tequila down, and Andy was already feeling like it was going to be a good night. Especially if they got Grace to at least three drinks because then she would dance. And Andy wanted to dance tonight, and just be an adult without the responsibilities of work and a kid. She loved both her job and her child, but being a young parent was hard sometimes. Especially when she didn’t have any family of her own that was her support system. Ted’s family was great, of course, but Andromeda longed for Narcissa some days. To see her younger sister with her child, and to meet Narcissa’s children when she had them. She had heard about her sister’s wedding, and seen the announcement in the Prophet two years ago. But their relationship wasn’t what it used to be. Tonight wasn’t about that though, it was about seeing how many drinks they could get in Grace before she puked. Which, they should get a bet going on because Andy was convinced she’d win it this time. Andy couldn’t help but roll her eyes as Annette confirmed she was still to be married to Rabastan. Out of the Lestrange brothers, the younger one was more tolerable. Rodolphus had a temper, and while he fit well with her eldest sister, that was because both of them were a tad insane. Rabastan was more level-headed, but he was still a Lestrange. She knew without asking where his allegiances lay, and Andromeda wouldn’t be surprised if he’d already taken his mark. Annette had gotten away with a lot over the years, but her love for muggles wouldn’t fair her well if she did end up wed to him. “Gross, we’ll come up with a plan. You’ve got some of the best minds here tonight, we’ll have you out of that situation in no time,” she assured Annette. Laughter followed as Bill realized he was the odd one out in their group, but Andy suspected by the end of the night Bill and Annette would end up being quite close. She’d seen the flirting and was already rooting for something to happen between the pair. “Oh, one clean plate just for me? I’m honored,” she joked, before passing another shot over to Gracie and downing her own. She was starving, and there was plenty of good food just waiting for them to dig in. She helped herself to the cleanest-looking plate and started gathering up food for her and Ted to split, handing a plate over to Grace so the half-birthday girl could get something of substance in her stomach before they continued drinking.

The conversation around her was well in effect, so it would have been rude of Amelia to eavesdrop except that they were discussing Nettie's betrothal to Rabastard which Amy always tried to make her business, and also that Amelia enjoyed ear hustling and butting in when she'd not been invited. She had learned the skill early on as the younger sister to two much older brothers, and she found it actually quite helpful in meeting new people. Not to mention that it often led to some fun gossip, but a forced marriage between sweet, sweet Annette and that wretched Lestrange family was anything but fun. "I've told her she should just hire someone to kidnap Lestrange and drop him in the middle of some jungle in South America without his wand, but apparently that's too cruel and 'also illegal'..." Amelia made air quotes with her fingers as she said the last words, mocking a previous conversation between herself and her former dormmate, while rolling her eyes dramatically. Annette had high hopes of getting out of this arrangement, as did Amy but she felt her friend was being far too cavalier about how she was going about it. There was no way, in Amelia's mind, that Rabastan Lestrange was doing anything to try to stop this marriage to Annette. She was a catch, any wizard would have been lucky to have her, and although the younger Lestrange wasn't as hot as his older brother, that had to mean he was smarter, right? He wouldn't willingly give up a great girl like Annette. Amy knew the Hufflepuffs had to handle this themselves if they wanted it to be broken off, but all of her suggestions were apparently not up to snuff or would land them a room in Azkaban, which, in fairness, would save them from apartment hunting next weekend. "Hey Billy Boy. How 'bout you surprise me?" she said, momentarily dropping the Lestrange kidnapping plot and passing over the empty cup she was holding, just in time to accept a shotglass from her brother. "Cheers." Rod and Bill were brilliant hosts, even if they weren't such fabulous interior decorators. Amy shot back the tequila and immediately made a face. Add purchasing liquor to the growing list of things her brother did not do well. "My gods, what the bloody hell was that? Are you trying to poison us, Rod?" She sneered and then, as if a lightbulb had suddenly illuminated over her head she turned to Annette and Andromeda and suggested "poison! That'll definitely break up that daft betrothal."

Bill eavesdropped with interest - was it even eavesdropping, when they were freely conversing where they could all hear? - as Andy and Annette spoke about an engagement. To Rabastan Lestrange. And the need to get out. One of the many things the Mediwizard couldn't comprehend about old pureblood families - yes, acknowledging that his own could share that history, and perhaps his and his brothers's hair and some of their peculiarities were the results of too many cousins marrying each other - was the obsession with pairing up their children. It was medieval, really, and counter-productive, and he was relieved to hear that Andy was on the case. Relieved enough to let loose his own outburst, if anything, only to be received with laughter. "Oi! You two, you're supposed to be the good ones, what're you doing to me here?" Bill accused Roderick and Gracie through his own peals of laughter. With their differences in years and House, he could privately admit that it wasn't all that shocking for him to be the last to know a few things, here where he and Andy and Ted were rapidly getting outnumbered by graduated badgers. But still. Annette piped up, adding more to the story, and Bill's brows shot up as the pieces clicked more into place. This had to be Amelia's roommate, the one who also lived down the street, which meant... Aw hell, does that mean she's just graduated? If that was the case, in fairness, he'd have to stop giving Roderick sh*te for having his head turned by a girl still in school, and he still had pages of material to go through there. As he gently tried to pry his friend back onto the scene, that is. "Sounds like," he easily agreed with Annette. "Have about a million questions for you, mostly to get more dirt on this one, what was wee Roddy like - " A quick nudge to Rod's side, a dodge - Drinks slid away to Annette and Gracie, approved of. The tequila not popular tonight, however much it was pushed, the group seeing through the attempt to rid their place of the sub-par bottle. Committed to doing his part - and highly entertained by Amelia's commitment to problem-solving for Annette - Bill nabbed the bottle after her declaration of its awfulness with a roll of his eyes. He gave himself a long pour, downing it quickly before getting to mixing something up for her. It seared, awakened, did the trick - what more did they expect? They couldn't afford top-shelf! He snickered as Gracie gave a good-hearted lament, hoping that her dancing feet weren't going to be dormant for much longer. There was hardly anyone more entertaining than the little Healer when she decided to let loose, and he loved to see it. "You're in the right company to help with a convincing cover up, you know," he grinned after Amelia's latest suggestion, figuring this was hardly the first time that the witches had discussed options, however jokingly. He fixed her up a cocktail to match Annette's, sending it her way before helping himself to more of the get-rid-of-it tequila.

Ted allowed himself to disappear into the background as his wife chatted up her soon-to-be in-law, not that the Blacks bothered to acknowledge their relationship to Dromeda anymore, or even her existence. The whole thing still gave him an upset stomach to think about, even after all these years. When they were younger and sneaking around to avoid her supremacist family finding out about him, about their daughter’s view of the world, Ted had felt like a dirty secret. He wanted to commend Annette for how vocal she was about her beliefs, but her bravery hadn’t seemed to make much of a difference if she was still engaged to the brother of his own sister-in-law’s husband. Running seemed to be the most successful option when one was faced with such a fate, but it didn’t make the actual act any easier. As the women chatted, and Rod’s sister chimed in with her own suggestions on how to escape the life Andromeda was once slotted to lead, Ted melted into the background and kept his thoughts on the matter to himself. Dromeda seemed to be having a fun enough time amongst their friends, and that was the purpose of their visit this evening. Fun with friends. A moment to forget about the responsibilities of being a parent, of being a healer in the midst of a war that saw admissions rising astronomically in recent years. Dora was safely squared away with his mum and dad just outside of Liverpool, none the wiser to the worries her parents faced on a daily basis nor their immense need for a proper night off. Two healers and a three year old made for a very busy household, and the bags under Ted’s eyes were beginning to show the weariness he'd been feeling after several double shifts at hospital. Tonight, they would celebrate and drink, he may even be able to convince Dromeda to do a little role play in the bedroom if she kept up on those tequila shots, and they would have a lovely lie-in in the morning with no adorable wee urchin demanding cartoons on the telly just as the sun began to rise. Biting the edge of his beer cup to hold in his mouth and free up his hands, Ted carried two more shots through the little crowd and met his wife at the snacks table. He set their shotglasses down, followed by the cup he had carried in his teeth, before kissing Dromeda’s neck. “Don’t think you’re getting away without a hangover tomorrow, babe. We agreed on a tequilla night, no amount of dip and crisps will save your precious head.” Snatching a crisp and popping it into his mouth, he offered her one of the tequila shots he’d snagged from the counter where the berated bottle had ended up. Sure, it wasn’t a high quality liquor, but who were they to turn down tequila?

This was how things were supposed to be. A bunch of friends getting together to celebrate a half-birthday when terrible alcohol choices and debatable taste in music. He lived for these nights, no matter what day of the week they ended up on. He knew now that Amelia was graduated they would be competing to see who threw the best parties, although he had a few years of experience on her when it came to a good party. He had learned ages ago not to underestimate his sister, and he was sure whoever she ended up living with would rise to the challenge. He wondered if she’d settled in on a place, knowing how the need to no longer live with your parents after school could be a driving force. Their parents were wonderful, but Edgar had gone and gotten married and had kids. His mother had been asking him when he was going to stop living the bachelor lifestyle, and he couldn’t give her a real answer. She didn’t need to know he was still pining after Mary MacDonald. “Hey, we are the good ones,” Roderick protested with a smirk, giving a wink to Gracie. It wasn’t that they enjoyed teaming up against Bill, but he made it so easy sometimes. There were parties that happened in the Hufflepuff common room, but outsiders didn’t enjoy trekking down to the cold dungeon very often, which meant they were almost exclusively Hufflepuff students at them. But the Gryffindor tower? With its great views - everyone wanted to be at those parties. Shame, really, given how close his common room had been to the kitchens. Annette was much nicer than Gracie and he were, giving a rundown of how they all knew each other, and Rod through a friendly punch Bill’s way as Bill asked for dirt on him. He was sure Annette had stories she could tell, given how close in proximity they had been for years. He grinned at his sister as she declared that the terrible tequila was poison before the plot to commit murder resumed. “Bill is right, this the group to be with if you’re going to commit murder and then try to get away with it. And we can hide you when big brother Lestrange goes on a rampage.”

She appreciated that Bill was making her something more tolerable than the tequila, although he seemed jealous of the amazing Hufflepuff parties he had missed out on. To be fair, during the year they had dated briefly, she’d mostly spent time in the Gryffindor tower with him and Roderick. And not just because you had to crawl into Hufflepuff’s common room. “Oh he’s just jealous, Ick, he knows in a room full of Huffepuffs he can never be the coolest one,” she teased. Now that more of them had graduated, Bill was bound to be outnumbered at any party they threw. Especially if something happened between Bill and Annette tonight, which Grace certainly hoped would happen. She knew them both well enough to know they would be good for each other. Annette deserved to be around people who appreciated her. Thankful that Bill had made her a proper drink, she begrudgingly took a second shot of tequila with Andy before her friend left to peruse the snack table. She took a long sip of her drink, taking in the talk of murder and covering it up. Poison was a suggestion, and Roderick was offering to help hide Annette from Rodolphus if she did decide to commit murder. “You’re all wrong. The best option is flesh-eating bugs, and you would be in luck because we just had some hatch. Just dump them on the estate and let them take care of all the Lestranges,” she said confidently. Two shots Grace was apparently good at coming up with ideas for murder, and she was sure that would be added to the list of how many drinks Gracie had. Bill was on the bottle of tequila, and with a grin she raised her shot glass to indicate she wanted another, and shook her head as she downed a third shot that burned even more than the first two. “It’s dancing time, c’mon Amelia, let’s show them how it’s done.”

She couldn’t ask for better friends, laughing as Roderick and Grace played off each other's antics. And what was even more wonderful was how everyone fell into the idea of getting rid of Rabastan, looking out for her even though she hadn’t seen them in years or met them until today. Annette was also sure most of the guests who were arriving were Healers or something of the sort at the hospital, which meant she could probably come up with quite a few ideas of how to permanently get rid of Rabastan. Truthfully, while she wanted the betrothal to be done, she didn’t really want to harm him. She knew the family was dangerous, she knew how much Rodolphus would come after her if anything happened to Rabastan that was her doing. But he really was sometimes tolerable, and also much more likely to commit a murder than she was. She was simply hoping that he could talk to his father and have his family call it off, perhaps suggest a more suitable pureblood girl. Like Parkinson, he and Dora had always gotten along. She almost choked on her drink as Grace brought up flesh-eating bugs, not doubting that her friend had some she could get ahold of. She wasn’t entirely sure what flesh-eating bugs were needed for in a medical setting, and she honestly didn’t want to ask. “So, Grace gets points for most creative method,” she said with a laugh. ‘Or most concerning method maybe? She doesn’t actually have flesh-eating bugs, does she?” she asked Roderick and Bill, hoping that two drink Gracie was just overly helpful. It was only a few seconds before three shot Gracie happened, however, and she was declaring it was time for dancing, calling Amelia to come and join her. She watched them go with a laugh, leaning back against the counter in the kitchen where Roderick and Bill still were. “Does four drink Gracie still start singing?”

The Hufflepuffs were teaming up against Bill, and Andy had to admit she found that amusing. She hadn’t gone to any parties in the Hufflepuff common room either, but she had at least heard about them through the grapevine during school. But she couldn’t really comment here, because she’d never stepped foot inside of the Gryffindor tower in her years at Hogwarts. She smirked into her second shot of tequila, waiting for Grace to finish her thoughts before she clinked their glasses together. Andromeda didn’t know Amelia Bones that well, they had only overlapped a few years in school and in those days, Andy didn’t talk to many of the younger students. But she was liking the suggestion that she was dropping about leaving Lestrange stranded in the middle of nowhere. “Now that’s a good plan, even if it’s a little cruel. And illegal,” she said with a laugh. “But is it really that cruel if he would do something much worse?” She looked to Annette with her question, There would be time for proper discussions later about how to get Annette out of the dreaded betrothal, and Andy had some ideas, given that she’d left her family and Lucius in the dust years ago now. For now, she wanted spring rolls and other snacks that were slowly filling up the table in the kitchen. She was only half listening to the conversation as she filled her plate, a smirk on her face as she spotted the cake the boys must have made. She had to hope they had followed a recipe this time, all too familiar with the disaster of cakes from past parties. Ted arrived near her, drinks in hand and mouth, and she grinned at him as he set them down on the table. “Good thing I know of some pretty decent hangover cures. Types that don’t involve clothing,” she said with a smile to him, setting her plate down to snag one of the shots. She raised it to him with a smirk, downing the harsh liquid quickly. Each shot was getting easier, and hopefully, they’d finish the bottle tonight and bring the boys a better sort of liquor at the next party. “Care to dance?”

In a show of either bravado or stupidity, Bill poured a generous helping of the Godric-awful tequila into his glass with a flamboyant flair that seemed rather directed at all their critiques. Amy laughed and rolled her eyes. If he wanted to burn his throat out with that glorified acid, let him. And if there were still any left after she’d gotten properly drunk on the tastier stuff, then she’d likely be joining him. Hypocrisy be damned. It was a party after all. Soon enough, she had a suitable drink in hand as she listened to Gracie’s impassioned plan for saddling the whole Lestrange family with flesh eating creatures which would require no need for any coverup, no matter how brilliantly this drunken lot of lovable weirdos would have been at devising such a plan. Gracie wanted to dance, and Amelia could hardly deny such a reasonable demand, not when the witch was suggesting unleashing a painful death on an entire bloodline. She’d have been mad to argue with Peasegood until she had a few more drink in her. “Twist my arm,” Amy grinned, following Grace out to the more spacious lounge where their enthusiastic dance moves wouldn’t be as likely to injure someone or upturn any drinks.

His dear friends were determined to keep making him the butt of the joke - and Bill was determined to remember. Not so determined that he refrained from helping himself to the get-rid-of-it tequila, but with a bit of luck, he'd still remember enough to be properly cross with his mates in the morning. Talk of how to effectively - sometimes efficiently, sometimes horrifyingly, sometimes laughably - free Annette of the apparent barnacle that was Rabastan Lestrange was making his head spin. If he'd been curious, before, about why Gracie had brought her friend along and made a point of introducing and leaving her with him - he was invested, now. Was she hoping he'd do something to help? What that something could be was beyond him - he had no power or "influence," the Lestranges were the worst kind of purebloods and the sort that hated his family the most, his job didn't exactly put him in a position to make threats. Maybe she'd meant nothing by it, but she knew he had no choice but to flirt with a pretty witch. Was that all she wanted? For Annette to feel what it was like to have attention from somebody else? He couldn't imagine she'd gone without, beautiful girl like her, even with a looming, lumbering Lestrange around. Whatever it was, he'd sort it out with Grace another time - for the bubbliest among them had left him momentarily stunned. "You're f*cking terrifying, Gracie P." Her nonchalant, even chipper delivery of an on-the-spot concocted plan to murder a family - a whole horrible family - with flesh-eating bugs made his flesh crawl, but Bill wasn't sure if it was the idea, or the delivery. Either way, he shot her a quick smirk and bopped her nose. "Never change." Fooling Ted with Annette would have to wait, as he and Andy left the food to dance, dance-pants Grace and Amelia in tow. While the kitchen was practically empty now compared to how it'd been just moments ago, he was ready for his roommate to make a himself a little more scarce so he could chat up their guest. Unless Rod was interested in her? They'd thankfully avoided that kind of awkwardness so far, but that was due to Rod's determination to have no fun, no fun at all, while there was still a chance with Mary. Bill didn't see much of a chance, not until she was out of school, anyway - but if he was interested in Annette, Bill could be persuaded to step aside. It'd be good for him to set his sights on someone other than Mary! "If she doesn't, she'd know where to find them," Bill warned with an amused raise of his brows, sending the girl a laugh at her next. The Grace Peasegood Drunkness Scale was a thing of legend, and their half-birthday girl was rapidly climbing the scale tonight. Six was when that usually became a problem - but she was a Healer, they practically all were, people would be clamoring over each other to help if she needed it. She'd be fine. "Absolutely, she does - Rod, why don't you put on something that she can bring the house down with?" He met his mate's eye over their drinks, curious. If he made an excuse to stay, that could mean one thing. If he didn't...

“My favorite sort,” he grinned cheekily at his wife. She had always been such a vibrant person; it would have been impossible for Ted not to be drawn in by her charms. Although there were still moments where he could see that she needed more space, or sometimes less space, or just an extra-long cuddle from a rambunctious little toddler, Ted was amazed at how much more she seemed to shine these days compared to when they were younger. Their time apart had been difficult but necessary for them each to grow, and oh how Andromeda had grown. Ted, still very much an immature goofball who read comic books to their daughter and dragged his beloved to the cinema to watch the latest science fiction movie, was in awe of Andromeda daily. He counted himself lucky to have her at his side and the insinuation of a hangover cure that required a naked Dromeda still made him blush and giggle like a schoolboy. They raised their tequilla shots to each other and downed them without complaint, before his goddess of a wife pulled him away to dance. A delightful mistake.

Roderick didn’t normally team up against Bill at parties, but this was the first party where the Hufflepuffs seemed to dominate the room. He’d get an earful tomorrow for Bill, but for now he was down to tease his friend. This house party was on it’s way to being one of the best parties they had ever thrown. Murder plots and all. Although, he hadn’t been expecting Gracie’s words, and he choked on his drink as he tried to process just how terrifying Grace was. “Terrifying doesn’t even begin to cover that plan,” he said, downing the last of his drink. If they were going to come up with a murder plot, he wanted to be drunk enough to not remember it in case he was ever questioned. He was in the process of making himself another drink when Grace declared it dancing time, and he watched with amusement as their guests left the kitchen to go and dance where there was more space. He could hear the laughter from the other room, and leaned back against the counter with a smirk. It was a fair question, if Grace had access to flesh eating bugs. Roderick knew they had their uses in medicine, but he’d never thought to ask. “It’s best to always assume that Grace has access to any sort of bug.” Looking between Bill and Annette, Roderick wasn’t missing the cues that his roommate was putting off. He wanted alone time with Annette, and Roderick wasn’t going to get in the way of that. “ABBA it is then, that’s always four drink Gracie’s band of choice.” He pushed off the counter, giving Bill a look before he left the kitchen for their living room where dancing was already underway. Bopping about he gathered around the group, heading toward the record player. “Let’s get this party really started.” He could hear Gracie’s complaints as he switched the record, but it was only a few seconds before three drink Gracie was glad for the change in music.

Grace had to laugh at Bill and Roderick, both of them in agreement that her casual flesh-eating bugs statement was delivered so nonchalantly. It was a good idea though, and it’d be easy enough to get the bugs if they did decide on that method. Not that she was actually planning on murdering the Lestranges. At least not tonight, and was it really murder if they were terrible people? Wasn’t it just a public service at that point? There wasn’t enough time to contemplate that, as three drink Gracie wanted to dance. Especially when it was three shots of tequila that she was already starting to feel the effects of. Making a mental note to buy the boys better tequila the next time she was at the store, it was time for dancing, and Grace was pleased as Amelia followed her into the next room. The music wasn’t her music of choice, but that wasn’t going to stop her from dancing. It was also apparently not going to stop Andromeda and Ted from joining them, and she grinned widely at them as they joined the makeshift dance floor. Couches moved against the wall, it was the perfect place to let loose. “So tell me, Amelia, are you and Nettie planning on getting a flat together? Because you should, obviously. Didn’t you get matching tattoos?” Grace felt that she vaguely remembered a story like that, or had they only thought about getting them? “You should get a flat with her, and then throw parties. I bet your parties would be just as good as the boy's parties.” She turned to Andromeda and Ted, laughing as she saw that Andy had brought her food to the dance floor. “I should have brought snacks to the dance floor,” she said with a laugh, gladly taking the offered spring roll as Roderick came to join them. He stopped the record that was playing, much to her disapproval, but she was pleased when she heard the beginning of one of her favorite songs start. “Okay, I would take the change in music. This is one of my favorites,” she said as she turned to Amelia, bouncing with the beat of the music. “Happy half-birthday to me!”

Annette had learned a long time ago to not piss of Grace. She was one of the sweetest people you could ever know, but if she was mad? She’d tear you apart with her words. Or apparently flesh-eating bugs. That would be a conversation for later when two drink Gracie wasn’t the one in charge. Or three drink Grace, who tended to dance. If she kept up with those tequila shots, five or six drink Gracie would make an appearance. And while Annette couldn’t remember what happened after five or six drinks, she did know that seven drinks Grace started digging into deep thoughts and would probably be the best Grace to plan a murder. Although they were not planning a murder, because Annette had to believe that Rabastan was figuring a way out of this. It wasn’t like he wanted her to be his wife, and Nettie didn’t really understand why her parents had made this bargain in the first place. A laugh tumbled out of her at the boys response to her question, and she made a mental note to find out more about the type of bugs Grace seemed to have access to. Maybe not flesh-eating bugs, but some sort of infestation of the Lestrange Manor would be amusing at the very least. The dancing from the next room over seemed to be going well, but Annette hadn’t missed the look the shared between Roderick and Bill, and was not at all surprised that Roderick left them with a smirk to her as he walked by. “Did you all make that banner on your own? It looks like it has seen better days,” she said with a laugh, leaving her spot against the counter to move closer to Bill. “So what’s it like, working at Mungos? It seems like you healers travel in packs. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s kind of sweet.” Annette had never had a large group of friends, although her friend group did consist of people whose names all started with A. Amelia, Alice, Athena - those were the people she was closest to. “Or is that just a Gryffindor thing?”

Andromeda loved a party, and since Nymphadora had been born their time to go to parties and dwindled. So she was absolutely going to take advantage of a kid-free night. In more ways than one. The first one was free food, and she grinned at Ted as she added some of his favorites to her plate. Then it was to the dance floor, where Andy was determined to dance with her plate of food. She handed Ted a crisp as they danced, Andy wanting to jump with the music but afraid of spilling her food. “Tequila night, but not so much tequila that I get sick. I’m counting on you to keep me accountable to that,” she teased her husband. Really, there was no stopping them once they both got drunk. As long as she wasn’t vomiting all day tomorrow, she would survive. Especially given that they also had a kid-free morning waiting for them. Roderick was joining them from the kitchen, and Gracie was complaining about having not brought snacks to the dance floor. “Here Gracie, spring roll,” she said as she held out the plate, glad their dear friend was getting so food in her stomach with all that liquor. “Hey Ick, what are you doing?” she asked as he removed the record that was playing. Sure, no one really loved the Bee Gees but it was good music to dance to. That is, until she heard ABBA playing from the new record. Holding out the plate towards Roderick and Amelia, she used her free hand to bring Ted closer, giving him a kiss. “Are we singing ABBA? I feel like we’re going to be singing ABBA any second here.” At least, she was going to sing along. “Mamma Mia, here I go again.”
